Weekly Summer Workshops for kids at AWS!

Spaces are filling quickly for this
popular summer camp!

It's an incredible opportunity for children to learn about animal care and handling, as well as animal welfare-related issues.

Participants have the opportunity to watch a spay surgery in the Shelter Spay Neuter Clinic, visit Gray Animal Farm and learn about horses and their care with Blixx Horses.

The workshops are Monday - Thursday, 9am - 3pm.  Junior Workshops (7 - 9 years old) begin July 9, July 16 and July 23.

Senior Workshops (10 -13 years old) begin August 6 and August 13.

The students have the opportunity to interact with a variety of pets, play games and create crafts. Snacks are provided, but bring a lunch.

The cost of the workshop is $240.00 and includes snacks, an AWS t-shirt, field trips, certificate of completion, a photo with an animal and a life-long lesson in compassion.

Volunteers are working hard to generate donations for the Antique Show and Sale!

You know summer is here when volunteers Fran, Debbie and Liz start taking over the "Boston House" on the AWS property!

The three ladies spend countless hours (in un-air-conditioned comfort!) each summer collecting, cleaning, organizing and pricing donated antiques for the annual antiques show and sale at Kennebunk High School.

This year's show will be held Saturday, August 4 from 10 to 5 and Sunday, August 5 from 10 to 4.

The show, run by Goosefare Antiques, provides a large booth space for the ladies to show their wares and raise money for the animals. AWS also receives a portion of the proceeds of door revenue.

Thousands and thousands of dollars have been raised through their tireless efforts over the years.

Of course, they can't do it without donations of quality antiques! Do you have an item that you'd like to donate to the show? How about a whole attic full of goodies? We want to hear from you! The ladies will even organize a pick up at your home! Couldn't get any easier!

If you are interested in donating antiques or quality collectibles to the show, please contact Fran directly at 207-985-3721.

*Please, no yard sale items.

Have you noticed?

To better help our long-term resident dogs find their homes, we have instituted a new program reducing their adoption fees to $99 after they have been with us for more than 3 weeks.

The dogs still receive all of the same pre-adoption care, including vaccines and spay/neuter surgery.

The program has been quite successful in making perfect matches!

Kudos to the Clinic!

Our low-cost, low-income, in-house spay/neuter clinic has performed 1,804 surgeries on the public's cats since opening 13 months ago!

Now, that's what we call "fixing" the problem!
