 Our pAWS Across America Program
Ever wonder how the puppies and dogs in our transfer program make the trip? One of our partners, Puppy Pipeline, made a video during their most recent trip from Georgia to Maine. We invite you to take a few minutes to watch the incredible story unfold.

Half of the puppies featured in the video will be available for adoption soon at AWS. Keep watching our web site for their availability. The other half will be headed to Windham for our Paws in Stripes program. (See more about this exciting program below.)

One of the dogs featured is Skippy...and we fell in love with him pretty quickly! We're so happy to report that Skippy has already found his new home!

 Cat Lover? Join the Discussion!

 A Community Cat Meeting will be moderated by Katie Lisnik of the Humane Society of the United States and is open to anyone with an interest in helping free-roaming cats in Maine.

Forum on Free-Roaming Cats and How to Help Them
Date: Tuesday, March 6
Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm
  Location: Sanford Police Department
    935 Main Street, Sanford

Whether you are involved with a shelter or rescue, a feral caretaker, a veterinarian or technician, an Animal Control Officer or town official- we hope that you will join us and be part of a solution for community cats!
During this meeting we will share what projects, programs and activities are currently being done in the region, focusing on owner education, spay/neuter and medical care.

We will identify areas where cats need more help and discuss collaborative options to provide that assistance and help reduce free-roaming cat numbers. This meeting is one of many being hosted in Maine, so please get involved and be a part of the community cat solution!

Ways to support animals in Maine

* Support your favorite shelter with donations of needed supplies. Or,

* Check of
f the "Companion Animal Sterilization Fund" on your Maine tax form. The contribution is tax-deductible and supports spay and neuter efforts state-wide.

* Get an "Adopt" license plate. The proceeds go to the state's Animal Welfare Program to help investigate animal abuse and to the state's Help Fix ME Program for low-cost spay/neuter surgeries.

  *Register your dog! Dog licensing fees support Animal Control Officers; State Humane Agents; investigation of animal cruelty complaints; enforcement of animal welfare laws; compliance with rabies vaccination of dogs; as well as care for sick and injured stray animals.
