AWS sends two of our own to Joplin!
AWS staff, Megan Arsenault and Ben Prevatt, say goodbye to
Executive Director, Steve Jacobsen, at the shelter on Tuesday afternoon. Megan and Ben arrived in Joplin, Missouri on Wednesday afternoon to help with animal recovery efforts from last month's tornado. Within hours of their arrival, Megan and Ben have reported back that they were busy caring for cats that were spayed and neutered that day.
Our friends at the ASPCA contacted AWS looking for qualified animal care professionals and the two volunteered to go.They will be working with animals that are sick or injured and have been separated from their families. Megan and Ben will be helping for nine days.

Time to clean out the attic!
It's that time of year once again: time to consider donating antiques, vintage items, quality or interesting collectibles to the Animal Welfare Society's booth at the 83rd annual Kennebunk Antiques Show and Sale!
For more than 30 years Liz and John DeSimone of Goosefare Promotions have hosted this fine annual event which is sponsored by The Animal Welfare Society. It will be held Saturday, August 6th from 10-5 and Sunday, August 7th from 10-4 at Kennebunk High School. This has been a very successful event for AWS thanks to the support of individuals like you.

The Animal Welfare Society benefits from this event in two ways: The AWS is given a booth at the show in which we sell donated antiques as well as quality vintage and collectible items with all of the proceeds going to help the more than 3,600 animals we serve annually, and the AWS receives a generous donation from the show promoters, John and Liz DeSimone.
If you have an antique, vintage item or collectible that you wish to donate to the sale, please contact Debbie at (207) 286-6517 or Fran at (207) 985-3721 and arrange drop off at the AWS or pick up. We'd like to have all items by July 8th. Please, no appliances or yard sale items.
