Meet Finkel, Ubu and Relic
Our Sadie fund is a resource to
help us in caring for the animals who badly need medical attention. Most animals come to us needing routine
vaccinations, spay or neuter surgeries, and treatment for various parasites. These all cost money, but that's par
for the course in animal sheltering.
The more extreme cases are those involving injuries, chronic illness, or
untreated ailments that have grown out of control and now need extensive
treatments. These are the
procedures that usually come with a hefty price tag. This is where the Sadie fund is critical.
Do nations to this restricted fund
enable us to care for cats like Finkel, a six month old Maine Coon who was surrendered to AWS by a cat breeder because he was born with a physical deformity. By putting him on a prescription diet as well as preventative surgery AWS has given him the opportunity to live a somewhat "normal" life. His unique and outstanding personality will surely overshadow the extra care he will require for his forever family. Note: Finkel is still in the care of the shelter, watch the website for his availability.
Ubu, an eight year old American Foxhound is a handsome lad with a soft face and an incredibly gentle personality. Diagnosed with diabetes prior to arriving at the shelter, Ubu's family could no longer afford the medical care he required. After having many visits to the vet, countless blood draws, and a variety of tests Ubu was regulated at 31 units of Insulin twice a day. We knew this was going to be quite an expensive illness to treat but when those big brown eyes were staring up at you with a soft tail wagging behind, we knew the Sadie Fund could help us make it possible. Several months of care was given in a foster home and after a trip to New England Cable News with his first debut on television it was not long before a wonderful family came to take him home! Now he resides in Sudbury Mass in a home with his very own little girl, a K-9 pal and two wonderful parents.
Relic is an adult Mealy Amazon Parrot who came from a home where he was fed an improper diet and didn't get enough time out of his cage to maintain proper muscle tone. He was despondent and malnourished. With the proper diet and antibiotics he regained his strength and personality. Now he is in a home that understands his needs. Thanks to our supporters, we can
help these special cases and give them the second chance they deserve. To contribute to the Sadie Fund, click here. To learn more about the Animal Welfare Society, check out our website.
