Give a Second Look to Long Term Residents

We get to know all of our shelter residents pretty well during their stays with us...and some of them we get to know really well!

Our Long Term Residents are eager to find their forever homes, and they need your help! Give them a second look if you're thinking of adding a new family member or pass this email along to a friend who might be considering.

Check out:

AWS LogoREBA! Reba is a beautiful Walker Coon Hound who was brought to AWS with her doggy siblings when their owner fell ill. All of her siblings have gone home, and she's anxiously awaiting her turn.

Karen, an AWS Senior Animal Technician, has become Reba's special friend. "Reba is calm, sweet and friendly. She has a very soft expression and almost seems to smile. She has respect for cats, likes to go on walks and loves being with people. She especially loves a good scratching on her hind quarters!"

AWS LogoSUSHI! Sushi is a distinguished gentleman at nine years old. He was surrendered in September because of stress in his previous home. He would be happiest as the only pet, and with respectful older children.

Kirstin, AWS shelter co-manager, loves Sushi. "He's a sensitive, yet loving and affectionate mature boy. He has a fascination with water and cat nip! As our current mascot, we often find him zooming around the shelter during the early morning hours!"

GracieGRACIE! Our girl Gracie has been in foster care with one of our animal care technicians, so that she is able to spend some time in a home environment. Gracie is a silly, fun-loving, three year old looking to find a forever family.

Jenny, Gracie's foster mom says, "Gracie is an expert in three things: fetch, naps, and unconditional love. I love Gracie because even though she is a scare-dy cat, she will try anything for someone she trusts... and a hot dog."

DaisyDAISY! Daisy is a sweet Walker Coon Hound looking for a family. Daisy was surrendered because she didn't like living with young children. She should do fine with older children. Daisy loves to use her sense of smell and go for long walks.

Jocelyn, an AWS Senior Animal Technician, has taken a special liking to Miss Daisy. "She's an all around bundle of fun. Daisy has a joyous spirit and her eagerness to please brings a smile to your face."

Clover
Clover finally has a forever home!

Our girl Clover was adopted from our satellite adoption center at PetSmart in Biddeford after a record stay at AWS of 1 year, 8 months and 7 days.

This record beats "Mrs Winnie's" record stay of 1 year, 7 months and 7 days. "Mrs. Winnie" was adopted September 16, 2004.

Clover was brought to AWS as a stray. She was incredibly thin and had very little hair, due to feline allergic dermatitis. After fixing her up with a special diet and medication every other day, she quickly came around.

Clover was at AWS until November, where she often served as the official greeter and lobby cat. She then traveled to our satellite adoption center at PetSmart, where she has charmed many in the past five months.

All of us at AWS wish to thank the great crew at PetSmart for taking such great care of Clover. We know you'll miss her as much as we will!
