Taking the Lead on Local Job Creation
|
When
we formed HarneTech®, our primary mission was to build a profitable
company that would have a positive impact on our environment.
Unfortunately, the wheels of the global economy fell off and fear set
in at our potential customers. Even those customers that wanted to
invest in energy efficiency held off as they hoarded cash to survive
the financial storm. HarneTech® had the resources to survive, and we
continued to invest in the team and company during the downturn; and we
are stronger today because of the experience.
While the storm clouds
haven't all passed, with new leadership in Washington D.C. and
Springfield, there are signs of an economic spring to match the flowers
and warmer weather, and we are beginning to see a silver lining in the
green economy. The
record U.S. unemployment of the past 16 months, the longest economic
retraction since World War II, has increased the urgency of our team's
secondary mission: to create local jobs with long-term futures for our
employees.
HarneTech® demands talent and focused
effort from our staff, but those qualified individuals that help bring
cutting edge solutions to our clients can expect loyalty from the
company. In April, we hired 4 new employees, and we intend to continue
this hiring trend this summer. To make this happen, our ownership team
is continually reinvesting in the company. We assure you that
management will not squander the growth potential of this company on
executive bonuses or corporate jets (we travel coach on domestic
flights). This is a time when our country needs to pull together, and
HarneTech promises to do our part. With your support, we will continue to create jobs in Illinois.
Thank you for your business and support,
Cris Arens President

HarneTech® Solar

SolarWall® Technology
delivers one of the truly fastest solar paybacks on the planet. The
system uses the sun's energy to pre-heat ventilation air for commercial,
industrial, institutional, and agricultural buildings. In addition the product introduces greater
levels of outside air, without the extra energy costs, and is heralded among
architects and engineers for its simplicity and many benefits.
It has become a powerful resource for LEED
projects as well, accounting for up to 6 points in the Energy & Atmosphere,
Indoor Air Quality, and Material and Resources categories. Independent research has shown annual energy
savings of up to $1,000/month on large applications.
HarneTech® has partnered with SolarWall® to bring this attractive product to the Chicagoland market.

HarneTech® in the Community
|
In celebration of Earth Day and Earth Month, HarneTech® Team
members have been taking a "hands-on" approach to environmental
sustainability. Jeff Davis participated
in the Friends of the Parks - Earth Day Parks and Clean Up event at Busse Woods
on April 18th. Jeff, along
with seven other volunteers mulched 47 trees. In total approximately 4.5 tons, or 12 yards, of
mulch was moved.

Jim Bakhaus is working with Leopardo Construction and the Chicago Chapter of
the US Green Building Council to organize a "Rebuild Day" with Rebuilding
Together. Volunteers will be retro-fitting low-income
homes with environmentally friendly materials. The event will take place during the last
weekend in April.

HarneTech® Team Spotlight: Cris Arens
|
Cris began his business career with an internship in Istanbul, Turkey in 1988. Over the next seven years, he gained management and sales experience working for U.S. export and logistics firms which included agent and customer travel to some unique parts of the world (Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Columbia, to name a few). In 1995, he recognized a logistics software opportunity and with a partner formed Fountainhead International LLC (CargoWise® and Shiptrax® flagship products). As President of the firm, Cris managed 40% growth rates year-on-year from start-up and Fountainhead became the leading U.S. software provider for freight forwarders. In 2006, the firm merged with an Australian competitor to create CargoWise edi PTY Ltd.
Cris' passion for the environment began in 1985 while spending a summer travelling within Western Europe studying the effect of acid rain on Germany's Black Forest which many blamed on coal consumption in the United Kingdom. It was an eye opening experience in regards to the geopolitical disputes involving pollution. Today, the global pollution problem is getting worse with the developing world trying to catch up with the U.S. standards of living. While we need to take dramatic action, Cris does not believe the solution is to stop commerce and go back to the 1800s. The technology is available and affordable, and his leadership role at HarneTech LLC combines his environmental passion with a business philosophy. HarneTech intends to make a positive difference in the environment while building a profitable and healthy firm that will be a good corporate citizen.
He lives in Arlington Heights, IL USA with his wife and two children.
