The national NHD office is hosting an online discussion about this year's theme on Wednesday, December 2 from 3-5 PM EST. Log on to the NHD website, www.nhd.org, and click on the online discussion button on top left of the page.  Follow the instructions on the website to learn more!
 
Teacher WorkshopFREE WORKSHOP IN MILWAUKEE
National History Day is more than just one day. It's a yearlong program designed to connect students with the study of history as they conduct their own historical research. This workshop will introduce new teachers to the structure of the National History Day program and provide advice and ideas on incorporating History Day into your own classroom. NHD in Wisconsin staff and experienced classroom teachers will provide sample materials and demonstrate resources available to Wisconsin educators through the program. Student participants will also talk about their experiences and show examples of projects.
 
This workshop will take place in Milwaukee on Saturday, December 12 from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, there is no cost to attend this workshop! You can learn more about NHD and register for this workshop on our website:

 
History Day Exhibit BoardsBUY HISTORY DAY EXHIBIT BOARDS 
Exhibits boards are available from the Minnesota History Day program for interested teachers and students. Available in black and white, these boards are larger than the typical science fair boards and come with optional title panels. Boards are only $7.00 each and are available in packs of 10. National Archives LogoNHD TOPIC IDEAS FROM THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES AT CHICAGO
The Education Specialist at the Great Lakes Region National Archives in Chicago, Kris Maldre, has assembled a list of potential topic ideas for interested students. VERY IMPORTANT WEBSITE CATEGORY CHANGES
Beginning this year, National History Day will require all web site projects to be created using the NHD Website Editor, beginning at the school level. This web site building program is specific to NHD, but functions in the same way as many other online website tools.  To access the NHD website editor and begin building their website, students must go directly through the NHD portal.
 
A full suite of site-building tools will be available through the NHD Website Editor. All hosting will be performed by the NHD Website Editor servers and submission of websites to regional, state, and national levels of competition will be online. Please refer to your curriculum packet for additional website category resources!
Wisconsin Labor History Society LogoLABOR HISTORY TOPICS
The Wisconsin Labor History Society will once again be offering special awards at all seven Wisconsin regional events and the state event for the 2010 competition season. Members of the society have put together a theme-specific topic sheet, filled with great ideas connecting labor history to "innovation" to meet this year's NHD theme.
