MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
November 2011

ADEDear Alumni,
As this year comes to close, it's exciting to think about the new year ahead and what that means for Babson. In an effort to help individuals think of entrepreneurship as a mindset rather than a job description, we are empowering people everywhere to share their definition of entrepreneurship, and thus shape the new definition. We are excited about you being a part of this movement to redefine the world by defining a word. We look forward to seeing your definitions!
Best,
Raghu

Center for Career Development
Do you know of a local manufacturing or distribution center that 20 to 25 Organizing for Effective Management (OEM) undergraduate students could tour? This would involve a two-hour time commitment that includes a tour of the facility, focusing on production, manufacturing, and/or distribution and business processes, and an opportunity for the students to meet with two to three managers who could respond to student questions about the challenges and opportunities of managing people, operations, and cost.
Please contact Arline MacCormack, assistant director of Experiential Learning, with recommendations!

Become an Entrepreneurial Leader
The New Entrepreneurial Leader, authored by a team of 23 Babson faculty members, offers a radical new approach to management education, crucial, we believe, to succeed in today's complex and fast-evolving world. Whatever your sphere of knowledge-from accounting, analytics, and environmental sustainability to finance, innovation, and technology-The New Entrepreneurial Leader shows how you can transform your talents to become leaders who shape both social and economic value.

10,000 Small Businesses
Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Small Businesses initiative is a national, multi-year investment to help small businesses create jobs and economic opportunity by providing entrepreneurs with greater access to business education, financial capital and business support services.  Babson professors developed the national curriculum and have been instrumental in launching the program nationally. The program is free to accepted business owners with limited resources who have a business poised for growth.  Babson alumni are encouraged to apply or refer a small business owner.

BABSON CARTOON
A cartoonist and a business school are an unlikely pair but Babson isn't a traditional business school and Hugh Macleod of Gapingvoid, our official cartoonist, isn't your typical artist. In partnership, Gapingvoid and Babson are helping entrepreneurs lead organizations, by better communicating stories through cartoons that can inspire and align. The cartoons make statements, spark conversations, and inspire action. They help us communicate our belief in the power of entrepreneurship in organizations of all shapes and sizes and our strategy to lead the advancement of Entrepreneurship of All Kinds to make a better world. Featured below is the second in a series of cartoons that will be released monthly in our Alumni Newsletter.
