Back to Babson Please plan to join us for Back to Babson on September 23 and 24, 2011. The featured classes that will be celebrating a reunion this fall are those ending in 1 and 6. Weekend activities include educational programs in Alumni College, the Alumni Association Leadership Awards, the New England Harvest Festival, and All-Class parties. Online registration for Back to Babson will begin on July 25.
Commencement
Babson graduated 469 undergraduate students and 466 graduate students at the 2011 Commencement exercises. Honorary degrees were bestowed to Twitter co-founder and Wellesley native Biz Stone, and Bill Drayton, founder and CEO of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. Undergraduates and their families heard from Tony Wain, senior lecturer in accounting, who won the Undergraduate Professor of the Year Award. Professor Edward P. Marram, lecturer in entrepreneurship, who won the Thomas Kennedy Professor of the Year Award spoke at the Graduate School Ceremony.
Legacy Tradition at Commencement Thirty-eight legacy undergraduates celebrated Commencement, and 24 attended the Annual Legacy Breakfast Event, where they were welcomed into the Alumni Association by legacy alumna Ann-Marie Sweeney Copland '86. The Legacy and Double Beaver Lunch celebrated five MBA legacy graduates and eleven Double Beavers. Erica Burrill Franz '04, M'11 and Kinsley Burrill Perry '04, M'11 became the first Double Beaver twins.
World Stage On Thursday, April 28, Babson held the 2011 World Stage event to promote the advancement of global Entrepreneurship of All Kinds™ and to honor its 2011 Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs inductees Ralph J. Lemonade Day Boston 2011 On May 1, Babson teamed with local businesses, the City of Boston, youth organizations, and engaged philanthropists to launch Lemonade Day Boston. This national event is dedicated to teaching children how to operate their own business and give back to the community through building and running a lemonade stand. Survey Says ... Thank you to the nearly 1,700 alumni who completed the 2011 Babson Alumni Survey. We will provide an executive summary, including key findings and action items, in the summer. 2011 Alumni Entrepreneur Hall of Fame and Rising Star Award Nominate fellow Babson alumni or yourself for the fourth annual Alumni Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Award and/or the Rising Star Award. Honorees will be inducted at a dinner ceremony on October 14 on campus. Established in 2008, the Hall of Fame welcomes alumni who distinguish themselves in entrepreneurial endeavors in all types of enterprises. Nominations will be accepted through June 1>>
2011 Leadership Awards Thank you to all who nominated alumni, parents, and friends of the College for a 2011 Leadership Award. More than 64 nominations were submitted. A new category is the Adelaide Van Winkle Friend of the College Award. The 2011 Leadership Awards Dinner will be held on Friday, September 23 during Back to Babson Weekend and all alumni volunteers will be invited. View a complete list of this year's recipients>>.
Become a Changemaker The eBay Foundation and Ashoka's Changemakers invite you to submit your solutions to find the world's most innovative market-based solutions that create economic opportunity and generate employment for disadvantaged populations. The Powering Economic Opportunity: Create a World that Works competition invites entries from around the world. Five winners will receive $50,000 each, and the expert panel of judges includes Cheryl Kiser, managing director of The Lewis Institute at Babson. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 15.

LIVING ENTREPRENEURSHIP
2011 Summer Venture Program Eleven teams of undergraduate students, MBA students, and recent alumni are participating in the Summer Venture Program from May 18-July 29. This 10-week intensive experience accelerates the development of student entrepreneurial ventures. Teams receive housing, work space, mentors, a speaker series, and other resources to help their businesses. The program concludes with a Demo Day.
