Bathing water quality in Cyprus the best in Europe

The European Environment Agency has released a report titled "European bathing water quality in 2011" in which Cyprus for the 7th continuous year has been ranked on the top of the list as the  country with the best quality of bathing water in Europe  with rate of conformity 99.1%  complying to the strictest specifications.  Malta and Croatia follow with a rate of conformity 97.8% and Greece with 94.1%.


The results regard monthly monitoring of bathing water during the bathing season 2011 (from 1st May to 31st October 2011) at 112 bathing areas of the coastal zone of Cyprus.

Zenobia diving site in Larnaka

Larnaka Bay in Cyprus is the undersea home of probably the world's best known diving site - The wreck of the Zenobia, a Swedish passenger ferry that sank on her maiden voyage in 1980.


This diving site offers a whole new experience every single time and works for beginners too. It is one of the most famous wrecks also for scuba diving.


It is fairly characterized and classified as one of the "top 10 ship wrecks" due to its short distance from the shore, its incredible marine life, and its considerably accessible depth for recreational diving and technical diving.


The sea bed is a depth of 42 meters, and the top of the wreck is at 16 meters below the surface. Water temperatures range from 18°c in winter and up to 27ºc in summer.


Recently a group of divers from UAE visited the site in coordination with our office.

The nightlife of Agia Napa is very varied and offers something for everyone, big name artists and DJ's from all over the world play to packed events each summer. It is one of the Europe's most popular clubbing destination. Agia Napa has a perfect blend of nightlife and historical spots. Here are some of things that you can do in Agia Napa:


- Cape Greco & sea caves: On the southeast end of Cyprus, just a few kilometers from Agia Napa. The sea caves near Cape Greco are the result of millions of years of sea pounding on the cliff and making inroads into the walls of the cliffs.


- Water World Water Park: Take a visit to the water park called WATER WORLD which has more than two thousand visitors daily (website).


- Beaches: Visit the famous beaches of Nissi, Pantahou , Landa, and Makronissos.
 

- Bunjee Jumping: Experience the adrenalin rush, while trying Bunjee jumping in Agia Napa. You can also try quad biking, scuba diving, amazing boat trips and fishing.


- Monastery: Visit the medieval monastery. The monastery of Agia Napa was built in the 14th Century and it is preserved in excellent condition. It is something which will impress you.


- Nightlife: Agia Napa is a place for safe clubbing environment, late night parties.

Lebanese press representatives visit Cyprus 

A group of Lebanese journalists participated in a familiarization trip to Cyprus in May 2012, during which they visited attractions in Larnaka, Lemessos and Pafos.

 

The focus of the trip was Pafos District in the western part of the island. In July direct charter flights will be launched between Beirut and Pafos.


The places they visited could be used as sample of itinerary of places to visit Cyprus in 3 days:


- Stroll at Larnaka Palm Trees sea front (Finikoudes).


- Visit to Agios Lazaros Church. The Saint Patron of Larnaka.


- Visit to Hala Sultan Tekke (Um Haram).


- Visit to Kourion ancient site and theatre in Lemessos (Limasol).


- Stop at Petra tou Romiou, the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite.


- Boat trip from Latchi fishing shelter north of Pafos to Akamas peninsula.
 

- Lunch at traditional restaurant at Kathikas village in Pafos District.


- Visit to the archaeological park of Pafos.
- Stroll around limanaki (small port) of Pafos.


- Visit to a factory producing Cyprus delights.


- Visit to a botanical garden.


- Visit to Tombs of the Kings archaeological location.


- Dinner at a fish tavern in Pafos harbor.

Cyprus stand at GASCO

Cyprus participated at the 6th Travel & Tourism Show organized by Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO) in Abu Dhabi, 06-08 May 2012.

 

Hundreds of GASCO employees and their friends visited the Cyprus stand and were introduced to tourism opportunities in the island, especially since there is a direct flight between Abu Dhabi and Larnaka airports.

جودة مياه البحر في قبرص هي الأفضل أوروبياً

أصدرت الوكالة الأوروبية للبيئة تقريرها الدوري بعنوان "جودة مياه البحر في أوروبا خلال عام 2011"، وفيه يتبين بأن قبرص يحتل وللمرة السابعة على التوالي موقع الصدارة على رأس قائمة الدول التي لديها أفضل الشواطئ المخصصة للسباحة، وذلك بمعدّل 99,1% من المعايير الصارمة المطبقة لدى احتساب الجودة. ويلي قبرص كل من دولتي مالطا وكرواتيا بمعدل مطابقة 97,8% واليونان بمعدّل 94,1%. 

 

وتكون النتائج مبنية على المراقبة الشهرية لمياه البحر خلال موسم السباحة في قبرص (من الأول من مايو حتى 31 أكتوبر) في 112 موقعاً للسباحة في مناطق قبرص الساحلية.  

 

 

  

موقع زنوبيا للغوص في لارنكا

 

يعد خليج لارنكا موقعاً لأحد أفضل مواقع الغوص في العالم وهو موقع حطام سفينة زنوبيا، سفينة الركاب السويدية التي غرقت في أول رحلة لها في عام 1980.


يقدم موقع الغوص هذا تجربة فريدة من نوعها للمبتدئين والمحترفين على حد سواء وهو يصنّف على أنه من أفضل 10 مواقع بقايا سفن تحت الماء في العالم نظراً للمسافة القصيرة التي تفصل الموقع عن الشاطئ والحياة البحرية الغنية فيه وعمقه المعقول والمناسب لأهداف نرفيهية وتقنية معاً.  

 

يبلغ عمق البحر في الموقع المذكور 42 متراً بينما تتوضع ذروة السفينة على عمق 16 متراً من السطح.  

 

تتراوح درجات الحرارة بين 18 درجة مئوية شتاءً و27 درجة مئوية صيفاً.  

 

مؤخراً قامت مجموعة من ممارسي رياضة الغوص في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة بزيارة الموقع بالتنسيق مع مكتبنا في دبي.

أجيا نابا في الصيف

تشهد الحياة الليلية في أجيا نابا تنوعاً شديداً، فهناك الأسماء الفنية اللامعة ولاعبي الإسطوانات (دي جي) المرموقين من كافة أنحاء العالم والفعاليات التي تأسر اهتمام أعداد كبيرة من السياح كل صيف.

 

أجيا نابا في طليعة الوجهات السياحية الزاخرة بالحفلات في أوروبا. إنها مزيج رائع من الحياة الليلية والمواقع الأثرية والسياحية العامة.
 

هذه لائحة ببعض النشاطات التي يمكن القيام بها في أجيا نابا:


- زيارة موقع كابو جريكو والكهوف البحرية في أقصى جنوب شرق قبرص على بعد عدة كيلومترات من أجيا نابا. الكهوف البحرية هي نتاج ملايين السنين من ارتطام الأمواج على صخور الشاطئ، مكونة فيها أخاديد وقنوات متشعبة.


- المنتزه المائي "عالم المياه": يستقطب أكثر من ألفي زائر يومياً (الموقع الالكتروني).
 

- الشواطئ: قم بزيارة الشواطئ الأكثر شهرة في أجيا نابا وهي نيسي، بانتاخو، لاندا وماكرونيسوس.


- ممارسة قفزة "بانجي": اختبر هذه الرياضة المثيرة ورياضات أخرى مثل ركوب الدراجات النارية بأربع عجلات والغوص في البحر والرحلات البحرية المختلفة وصيد السمك.


- زيارة الدير العائد إلى القرون الوسطي (القرن الرابع عشر) وهو في حالة جيدة جداً ولا بد أن يترك انطباعاً رائعاً.


- الحياة الليلية: آجيا نابا مكان آمن للقاء الأصدقاء وارتياد أماكن السهر المختلفة.    

الإعلاميون اللبنانيون في قبرص

 

 

شاركت مجموعة من الإعلاميين اللبنانيين في رحلة سياحية تعريفية إلى قبرص في مايو 2012، قامت بزيارة عد من المدن والمواقع السياحية في لارنكا وليميسوس (ليماسول) وبافوس.

 

وكان التركيز منصباً خلال الرحلة على مقاطعة بافوس في الجهة الغربية من الجزيرة حيث ستبدأ خلال شهر يوليو القادم رحلات التشارتر المباشر بين بيروت وبافوس. 

وهذه هي أهم الأماكن التي شملت الرحلة (يمكن تنفيذ زيارات ممائلة في مدة تستغرق ثلاثة أيام):


 

- جولة في شارع شجيرات النخيل (فينيكوديس) في لارنكا.


- زيارة إلى كنيسة أجيوس لازاروس، القديس الحامي لمدينة لارنكا.


- زيارة إلى تكية هالة سلطان (أم حرم) في لارنكا قرب بحيرة الملح.


- زيارة موقع ومسرح كوريون الأثري في ليميسوس (ليماسول).


- التوقف في موقع "بيترا تو روميو"، مكان ولادة أفروديت الأسطوري.


- رحلة بحرية من مرفأ لاتشي شمال بافوس باتجاه شبه جزيرة أكاماس النائية.


- تناول طعام الغداء في مطعم تقليدي في قرية كاثيكاس في مقاطعة بافوس.


- زيارة إلى منتزه بافوس الأثري.


- جولة حول مرفأ بافوس الصغير.


- زيارة مصنع تصنيع راحة قبرص (الحلقوم).


- زيارة إلى حديقة نباتية.


- زيارة إلى موقع "قبور الملوك" الأثري.


- تناول العشاء في مطعم للسمك (تافيرنا).

جناح قبرص في معرض السياحة في جاسكو

 

 

 شارك قبرص فى معرض جاسكو السادس للسفر والسياحة الذي أقيم في أبوظبي في الفترة من 6-8 مايو 2012.

 

زار الجناح القبرصي المئات من موظفي شركة جاسكو (شركة أبوظبي لصناعات الغاز المحدودة) وأصدقائهم من المهتمين بالنشاط السياحي وأطلعوا على إمكانيات السياحة القبرصية لاسيما أن هناك طيران مباشر بين أبوظبي ولارنكا الآن.
