Pray for Belgium
Please pray for Belgium,
for its Christian leaders and the churches.  Specifically, please pray for SportQuest and those with whom we work to see what is unseen; that we would listen well, having wisdom and discernment; that we would have favor with leaders and protection from the arrows of the enemy; and that we would have the faith to do what God has called us to do.  Pray for our Belgium staff: Seth, Joy, Mirjam, Sarah, Kurt, Wim, and Judith.

A New Generation of Leaders!

Belgium Youth

Last month I shared about our initiative in Belgium to raise up a new generation of leaders.  I want to share excerpts from several of the leaders who attended our meeting in Leuven.

Dear Kent,

Very good to hear again from you! It was truly great to have you in Belgium and to think about what we can do for God's kingdom in Belgium.

I fully agree with the importance of leadership development and coaching and the importance of sharing one, collective vision but it's a fact that Belgium is difficult ground. Therefore I really want to thank you for your heart and passion for Belgium.

Now regarding your questions: here are my answers:

1. What would you like to focus on?
A little more than one year ago the impression that God told me that Leuven is the key city to reach Belgium. This for two reasons: First of all Leuven has always been a Christian centre: in the Middle ages for the whole of Europe (missionaries would be educated in Leuven and then sent to all the corners of Europe). Second: Leuven is the largest university in Belgium; and nearly all Belgian students go home in the weekend. This means that if you can start something in Leuven; things will easily spread to the rest of the country.

2. What would you like to see happen?
That young Christians in Belgium walk closer to God and become more active in serving God, through coaching.
Belgium only has small churches that consist of 20 to 150
members; and each of them go through so many struggles.

3. What are some possible solutions? What will the effect of each of these be?
Prayer first of all...prayer for more workers to help with the harvest. Further the unity among the Christians must be realized, but I have no clue how...Appointing one or two people, surrounded by a team of ambassadors, who will function as catalysts to establish a coaching culture amongst Flemmish Christians (starting with church leaders and youth leaders).

4. What are you willing to do?
I would love to receive coaching and to become a coach.
I want to support a coaching initiative and to endorse it.
I would love to embed a coaching program in the EJV (in which the regional youth workers become coaches (spirtual & practical) for local youth workers, who in turn can become coaches for their team, which in turn can become coaches for the youth).

5. How can I support you?
You've already helped us alot by taking the initiative to organize an evening about coaching. It would be great if you continue what you are doing by helping to identify the right people to pull this initiative and to facilitate access to training on coaching. I'm also sure that you would make a great coach to some Belgians!

Ten years ago, SportQuest ministries responded to a mandated mission by Jesus for all of us to go into the world and share the gospel.  Driven by faith, Kent Susud, founder and director of the Indiana-based ministry, responded to the call placed on his heart to create a 501 (c) (3) non-profit in order to continue the great work God had begun in him and to carry it out until the end.  SportQuest ministries, since 1998, has been able to draw athletes from the north, south, east and west of the United States to participate in a global evangelism effort to help local churches in foreign countries flourish on hallowed ground, and to disciple those who may not understand the depth of joy and life that comes with having a relationship with Jesus Christ.  The evangelism outreach uses the gift of athletic ability God has given to young competitors, who are freshman in high school and up to college age, in order to help achieve the mission.  Every step made by SportQuest ministries is led and influenced by God's direction, under the pretense that what is impossible with man is possible with God.
Thank you for your continued support.  Please feel free to join our mailing list by contacting Kent Susud at Kent@sportquest.org.

Blessings,
