Dear Friends:

Happy Valentine's Day week to everyone! Mark your calendars now for the Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, February 24th, noon, at Meadowview Presbyterian Church. We're going to discuss falls prevention. Laurie Reynolds with Guardiacare will talk about a home safety assessment, Zorre' Kimura with Norton Audubon will show you some things you can do to guard against falling, and our own Jinn Fuller Renfro will "fall for you" and demonstrate how to minimize injury when or if you do fall. You're also going to come away from the workshop with valuable Parkinson's disease-specific take-home information that will help you stay safe!

Adina CookWe've some exciting news to share! Today, we welcome Adina Cook to our staff. Adina has worked extensively with non-profit organizations (read more about Adina here). She has personal experience with Parkinson's disease, having been diagnosed with PD four years ago.

Adina will serve as our Director of Outreach and Training. She will implement two new programs:
  • a program to reach undiagnosed people with Parkinson's disease in underserved communities, and
  • a training and certification program for paid caregivers who work for assisted living centers, nursing homes and in-home care companies.
Please come by our office for Open House on Friday, February 26th between 10am-2pm and welcome Adina to our team!

Thanks to everyone who took our "Who Is Your Neurologist?" survey. The information you shared has already helped guide our thinking in how PSCKY can work more closely with local doctors. Answers are still coming in, so if you haven't taken the survey, please do!
THANK YOU, CONGRESSMAN YARMUTH!
Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) announced that he has donated his Congressional salary to Louisville charities for the third consecutive year. We thank Congressman Yarmuth for his generosity in including PSCKY among those he chose to support! Hip hip hooray! You can thank Congressman Yarmuth yourself for his support programs and services for people living with Parkinson's disease by visiting his website and dropping him a note!
SEND US YOUR BEST IDEA; WIN A $60 MED TIMER!
Med Timer

Our staff will be on retreat this Friday to discuss PSCKY's plans for the rest of the year and to conduct staff training. Because we value your ideas, we're giving you the chance to win a terrific medication timer (sent to us by the folks at e-Pill last week). All you have to do to enter is fill in the blank! We'll read all the answers, and we'll do a random drawing from all who enter to determine the winner!
