Dear Friends:

Happy New Year!

BIG NEWS: our website has a whole new look (and lots of new information!). We hope you find the new support group listings more readable, and the online calendar, listing of lending library books and information ordering form are handy new tools! Enjoy...and don't hesitate to send suggestions for other content to Jinn (jinn@pscky.org). We're grateful to all the PSCKY friends who allowed us to use their pictures and stories throughout the website. Thank you!

We continue to offer our thanks for the many who've made generous holiday or year-end, tax-deductible gifts to support our work in the coming year. Thank you! We literally could not do it with your support!

We were sad to hear of the passing in November of Ann Brown of New Albany. Our thoughts are with her husband, Mel, and their lovely family. We also remember with fondness Bob Greenwell of Bardstown, and are sending love and encouragement to his family, including wife Betty.

In this new year, we'd like to acknowledge your birthday on our PSCKY calendar. Send us a note with your name & birthday (you don't have to advertise the year of your birth!) and we'll add it to our new calendar! Thanks to all who've already sent in their birth dates, and  belated birthday greetings to our friends Reeves Hitch (12/31), Kent Roberts (12/28) and Mary Ann Senn (12/27).

MEN'S GROUP NOW FORMING
Men's GroupYou may have seen in our e-news on December 14th the call for men with Parkinson's disease who are in their 30's, 40's and 50's and interested in being part of a new support group for men. Some of you have contacted us to tell us you're interested. This will be a self-led group. Each member will take a turn hosting the group in his home or a quiet location in his neighborhood. This is an opportunity for you to share stories, ask questions and visit with each other. No women allowed (unless you need a speaker who is a woman)...so you can really, really talk about what you want to. The format is open at this stage...the men involved will decide whether to meet weekday evenings or weekends...and whether it will be a meal-centered gathering, dinner, brunch, lunch or snacks. Please let Katherine (support@pscky.org) know if you are interested or know a man with PD who would like to be part of this group!

LET'S DANCE!
Katherine Autin and our friends at Bellarmine's Service Learning Clinic have been working tirelessly to get a new dance support group for people with Parkinson's (and their partners!) up and running. Studies have shown that dance therapy improves balance and coordination in individuals with PD. Also, this is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn a fun hobby!

ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB
FacebookPSCKY is now on Facebook! Please "become a fan." Thanks to everyone who's joined up so far! We now have over 100 "fans"...and we welcome your pictures, posts and conversations on our Facebook site.

Our friends at the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation have added a "Wellness Center" to their website. Wellness will mean different things to different people and identifying the steps you need to take for your wellbeing takes time, work, self-exploration and support. Create and follow your own wellness prescription by tracking your personal development, exercise, or nutrition goals. You can become a member of the Wellness Center by registering here.

Several folks have asked us to re-run the link to "The Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen" (a shopper's guide to reduce the amount of pesticides you consume with your food). We also encourage you to read this article about why you should reduce your exposure to pesticides.
