SEPTEMBER CHAIR YOGA & CONTINUING "MOVING ON" CLASSES: MAKE A MOVE FOR YOUR HEALTH!
Just a reminder that Chair Yoga is starting up again in September for the Louisville Metro area. You can choose from a class on Tuesdays or Saturdays at noon. Alex Cleveland and Kathleen Geile of Yoga at Crescent Hill offer special classes for Parkinson's patients
and care partners. Alex and Kathleen are Iyengar certified yoga instructors with many
years of teaching experience.
Classes are held in a
private Yoga studio on the lower level of Crescent
Hill United
Methodist Church
(201 S Peterson Ave;
intersection of Frankfort
and Peterson Avenues). There is ample free parking, and the studio is just one
minute from the Grinstead exit off I-64. Please note: there is a
flight of stairs leading to the studio.
Normally, you'd pay $10
for ONE chair yoga class. Through special arrangements with PSCKY, and with
underwriting from our friends at TEVA Neuroscience, we are pleased to offer you
these classes at $10 for a month-long enrollment of FOUR classes! (We
have a limited number of full scholarships available as well.)
Pre-registration is
REQUIRED. Email support@pscky.org, and we'll be happy to send you a registration form.
PSCKY is also proud to partner with Ms. Dyna Zehnder in Shelbyville, who has designed a movement program specifically for PD that she calls "Moving On." To get more information about her Monday evening (6:30p) classes, you may email her directly at dynazehn@myway.com. The Shelbyville class meets throughout August. |

WARNING! WATCH OUT FOR OVER-THE-COUNTER COLD & ALLERGY MEDS!
At a recent support group meeting, someone brought in a bag of commonly used cold and allergy medications. He pointed out that each of these over-the-counter meds contain a caution about their use for people with Parkinson's. Since peak allergy season will soon be upon us, I did a bit of research and discovered this article on pages four and five of the Spring Edition of the Parkinson Post. Parkinson Post is the newsletter of the Northwest Parkinson Foundation, which graciously gave us permission to refer you to this vital and informative article. |
