On behalf of the NYSPA Board of Directos and your fellow members, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome. We are delighted that you have joined the organization. NYSPA was established to represent the interests and promote the growth of the Spa Industry in New York State. Our goal is to reestablish New York State as the premier location in the country for Spa and related Wellness Programs. Your membership is a very important step in establishing a strong and effective organization, and we very much appreciate your commitment.
I enjoyed meeting many of you during the 4th Annual NYSPA Symposium that was held at the Statler Hotel on the Cornell University Campus in Ithaca. In the time since the Symposium, the Board of Directors has been focused on moving forward to accomplish the Strategic Goals for NYSPA that were discussed by the members during the NYSPA Business Meeting at the end of the Symposium. These Goals include:
- Develop a broad based and active membership that is representative of the Spa Industry in New York State.
- Establish a solid financial base for NYSPA through membership dues, government funding sources and business contributions.
- Establish NYSPA as a persuasive political force that effectively educates local and state governmental leaders on the value and benefits of the Spa Industry.
- Create substantial opportunities and programs for the benefit of NYSPA members, including: Educational Resources, Marketing and Public Relations Resources, Resolution of Governmental or Regulatory issues, Employment Resources and Operational Resources including: Basic standards and practices for NYSPA member organizations and Networking contacts relating to Spa operations, resources, vendors and suppliers.
- Establish NYSPA as an important and necessary point of connection between the Spa Industry and the diverse number of other related businesses.
We are lucky to have an active Board of Directors for NYSPA that includes a broad representation of the diverse Spa Industry in New York and the various geographic regions of New York State. The Board of Directors for NYSPA now includes the following:

Our new Website for NYSPA (www.ny-spa.net) went live in August 2008. The site is currently up and running and will give all of our members the ability to keep up with our activities and with the progress of NYSPA and its committees. Also, as a part of the NYSPA web site, we will be establishing a very powerful marketing tool especially designed for our members. On the NYSPA website, we will be identifying "Spa Trails" for each of the various regions of New York State. These "Spa Trails" will identify the identity, location and characteristics of each of our member organizations and will link customers directly to your individual web site in order to find out more or to book a reservation.
We also have established various Member Committees to help in accomplishing the work of the organization. These standing Member Committees currently are: Membership, Marketing and Public Relations, Political Action, and Mineral Springs Development. If you have an interest in participating on any of these Committees and have not yet had a chance to volunteer, please let us know, and we will make sure that you are included.
