March 18, 2009
Greetings!

I had the opportunity to speak at a retreat last Saturday -   "Come to the Quiet".  I was honored to share some of my story with 20 women who helped to shape my faith.  The gathering consisted of women from St. Alphonsus Church in Mt. Pleasant Iowa, the church where I grew up.

First, I had the opportunity to thank them for modeling a life based on faith.  During my young years I was not in a place of understanding.  I could not have imagined their impact on me, which now as I grow I understand.

Their ages spanned from 51 to 91 and standing up in front of such a wise gathering of women was an honor.   Me, just a baby at 41.  Most had not seen me for 10 - 20 years.  I have to admit, as I first stood in front of this group I might as well have been a naked baby just born.  "What could I provide this wise group?"  Well, we all learned a little something and I felt their love as if I were that new born baby.  An embrace from Marilyn and a few proud glances from my mother supported me through a few teary moments.

For me, as I was enveloped by their wisdom I could no longer deny the true source of my fuel.  For me I must affirm that it is the Holy Spirit of God that guides me today.  That is what I must call it now, but each of us can call it what we want.  The label is not important. The most important yet difficult thing, is simply to surrender yourself to a greater power that can be heard AS YOU COME TO THE QUIET.

The poem that I share today is the voice of my inner wisdom.  It was not found in doing anything.  It was found in being.  Modern B*a*g Ladies' philosophy and mission is the outward expression of this poem.  It was God's way of expressing my mission as the words effortlessly flowed from my hand onto the paper, quietly in the dark, one night several months ago.

Finally, in conclusion of the day the women wrote a personal note of inspiration that will be placed in a Believe Act Go Traveling Sanctuary pillowcase and delivered to women in a shelters.  Thier words will bring quiet to other women.  Click here to see pictures & details.
Spread Joy. Shred Fear. Have Fun.

Being quiet with yourself is an "A"ction, just a quiet one without talking, just listening.

Quiet outside doesn't always mean quiet inside.  Quieting our minds can be the biggest struggle and it takes practice.

Flowing River
I realize that I must have shared this poem with you a time flowring riverbefore, but I feel compelled to share it again in the hope that you will seek out some quiet in your life so you can listen to your inner wisdom that guides you to your purpose.

In the stillness my heart is full. It overflows.
I am rendered speechless. There are no words to describe this feeling I have.As my heart overflows a river appears that reaches beyond. This river connects to every living creature and abundance exists.

I do not want to leave the stillness, but I know I must.I must remember that I can bring it to every moment and every moment I must.

This must be what true love is. How can it not be.
As true love is the greatest gift and in stillness the greatest gift I have received.
Love is inside me and inside every being.

This gift I have must be shared, but how I wonder.I know it is inside us all, if only glimpses at a time.I see, I must be the mirror to others so they can see it in themselves.

I now cry tears of joy. The river flows.

March 2009 - Bless Your Breasts Affirmation

March leads us into the spring season, the season for newness, rebirth and  favorable climate.  Our breasts depend on us to provide a "favorable climate" which is symbolic of  "a healthy body".  Most often, we can shift the "climate" by adjusting the words which come from our mouths.  This month's affirmation aids us in remembering to try something new!

My words and thoughts carry the power to hurt or heal.
Today, I am willing to release thoughts and words that can only heal.
By healing others, I heal Myself.
