The end of summer is upon us which means it's time to "Fall Back Into Shape." Now that the kids are back to school and beaches and barbecues are over, fitness can be our focus. Join the ActivTrax monthly challenge for September.
Not on ActivTrax? See the Welcome Center or Wellness staff for more information.
Come on, let's fall back into shape! |
| HEALTHIER SNACKING | | |
Snacks, like all foods, are fuel, and should maintain our energy between meals and supply essential vitamins and minerals. You can snack smarter with nutrient-rich foods that you keep on hand for you and your family.
- Make fruits and vegetables convenient by placing them in spots where you'll see them first. Fill a large bowl with fresh fruit and place it on the kitchen counter.
- Have "grab and go snacks" in small plastic bags ready and waiting in your refrigerator.
- Involve your family in snack preparation.
- Establish a schedule or regular timing of snacks to enjoy healthy food and to prevent eating between meals.
- Offer a fruit or veggie at every snack and build your snacks around a lean protein, fiber and water as a beverage.
Some suggestions for healthy snacks:
- Non-fat yogurt with high-fiber dry cereal
- Natural peanut butter and fresh fruit
- Salsa, black beans and tortilla chips
- Handful of nuts with a glass of milk
- Veggies and a slice of cheese
- Dried fruits and nuts
- Air-popped popcorn

| VOLUNTEERISM AND GIVING | | |
