AFTER-SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT

A quality after-school program is more than just a safe place forsa children  kids to hang out after the bell rings.  After-school programs nurture potential, improve academic engagement and achievement, build confidence and character, and support healthy development in spirit, mind and body.

As a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, the Y believes access to after-school programs is important for all  kids, but for young people in low-income or struggling environments, they are critically important to supporting academic achievement and providing the kind of enrichment that opens doors.

The Y believes every child is full of possibilities, and we love being there when a child realizes it, too.

BUILDING BRIGHT FUTURES
For the most fun before and after school!  girl with world
Our Before and After School program provides an environment where children can easily make friends, be part of a group, meet physical challenges, and know that they are liked, respected and appreciated.

What we offer your child:
  • Character Development
  • Initiative Challenges
  • Games
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Homework Time
  • IGNITE - By participating in this Y initiative to combat youth inactivity and obesity, children get healthy and fit by playing interactive games, learning about proper nutrition, and eating healthy.

Locations:  Carrollton Elementary, Hardy Elementary, Westside Elementary, and Hardy Elementary.

Hours of operation:  6:30 a.m. until school opening and school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.  Programs are provided on most school holidays, winter and spring breaks, and inclement weather days.

Download a Before- and After-School program brochure.  Registration is ongoing at the Luter Family YMCA.  Contact Brandon Fry, Youth and Family Program Director for more information.

HELP A CHILD SUCCEED WITH A BRIGHT BEGINNING

All children should be prepared, confident and successful in school.  You can help.

At the Y, strengthening communities is our cause.  We strongly believe that children who have the necessities to succeed at school can focus on learning rather than worrying about having shoes to wear on the playground and crayons to color their assignment.

Make a donation - A donation of $150 covers a complete Bright Beginnings experience for a child and makes a difference that will last a lifetime.

Volunteer - Becoming a Bright Beginnings Shopping Buddy requires no more than a smile and less than 3 hours of your time.  Take an active role in nurturing the potential of our youth and volunteer this August.

Become a Backpack Buddy - Each child who shops with the Y's Bright Beginnings Program receives a backpack filled with school supplies.  School supply drop-off is located in our lobby.
