WATER SAFETY-KNOW THE FACTS

The Y wants everyone to have a safe summer in andblue green aquatic boy around the water.  The good news is that drowning rates for children have been on the decline in recent years. However, drowning is still the second leading cause of unintentional injury death among children aged 1 to 19 years.

Protect yourself and your family:

  • Make sure kids have formal swim lessons, which can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children aged 1 to 4 years.
  • Learn CPR so you can quickly intervene if there is an incident.
  • Only swim when and where there is a lifeguard on duty; never swim alone.
  • Adults should constantly and actively watch children in and around the water.
  • Inexperienced swimmers should wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
  • Parents should be in the water with non-swimmers.

Please click here to view the swim lessons schedule online or give us a call at 365-4060 and we will be happy to find the perfect class for you or your child.

Kicking It Into Character - Youth Super Sports Soccer

Looking for a competitive soccer program that not only teaches the skills needed to play soccer, but uses a curriculum that promotes the YMCA core values?  The Luter Family YMCA is the place for you this fall as we kick off our travel Youth Super Sports Soccer Program.

Traveling program is for 6-12 year olds; in-house soccer for 4-5 year olds.  Practices will be on Monday nights with the season starting Sept. 15th.

Click here to contact Brandon Fry, Youth and Family Program Director for more information about any of the these programs.

JAIL AND BAIL

Thanks to all our volunteers for making the Jail and Bail on June 19th a great success.  Together they raised over $5,000 in contributions in the form of "bail" for the Strong Communities financial assistance plan.

When you give to the Y, you continue to strengthen our community and move us all forward.  As the nation's leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in our own neighborhood.  Your gift ensures that the Y's programs and services will be open to all.
