JAC update

On Monday January 30, 2012, tribal representatives from the Jamul Indian Village and their project manager and public relations representative met with the San Diego Rural Fire District. They informed the chief that they are going forward with building a casino.
Although there are no formal plans they said the casino will be between 30,000 and 200,000sq ft. (big difference) Three to four stories tall with a separate parking structure, fire department, sewage treatment plant, four restaurants and a liquor license. Rural fire expressed concerns about medical emergency services, and who would pay. Their response was they want a mutual aid agreement thus no reimbursements.

Rural fire also expressed deep concerns about the traffic impacts. Particulary the inability to navigate the road in an emergency. Their
response was they are working with Caltrans.

When the question of the lighting of the facilities was raised, the project manager (who is from LA) said it would not be an issue. The sewage is to be reclaimed with sludge ponds to be cleared out on a regular basis. (big long tankers daily on 94?)

On Tuesday February 14, 2012, these same tribal representatives and their project manager and public relations representative are on the agenda at the Jamul/Dulzura Planning Group meeting.

Below is the agenda. Although the JIV is only presenting and introducing key people, I would encourage all the community to come join us to see what the JIV has planned and to write down their questions for the March meeting.
