Dear ,
They fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. Psalm 107:12, 13
Websters-"Fall Down": to fail to meet expectations or requirements
A Spiritual Definition - "Fall": The lapse of man into sinfulness, a moral stumble, an immoral slip.
Several years ago, Bob Carlisle had a song entitled "We Fall Down". The essence of the song is that even the best will stumble and fall, and the saints are just the sinners who fall down and get up. It's a familiar story throughout the Bible, people from all walks of life - poor and rich, young and old, men and women - while striving to love and serve God slip and fall away. But thank God the story doesn't have to end with the fall!
Redemption and reconciliation are just a repentant prayer away.
When you read the Bible, be encouraged when you find your story contained within the pages. Take heart from the many examples of men and women, just like you, who found victory in the midst of their struggle. For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. It's bound to happen, we are human after all. But don't let it keep you down!
"A righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity," Proverbs 24:16.
"We fall down, we get up. We fall down, we get up. We fall down, we get up. And the saints are just the sinners who fall down and get up." - Bob Carlisle, "We Fall Down."

Pilgrim's Progress and Pilgrim's Regress
|
 | In Store or On-Line |
Acclaimed as one of "the greatest literary masterpieces in the world," this allegory captivates the reader's attention while providing insight into the Christian life.
Join Bunyan as he tells the story of "Christian," a man on an adventurous journey across rough terrain, over sunlit hills, and through dark valleys. His trek is an intriguing allegory for today--mixed with the chivalric adventure of yesterday--as the pilgrimage takes us from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City whose builder and maker is God.

The Pilgrim's Regress, the first book

C.S. Lewis wrote after finding Christ, is an amazing story-a sort of homage to The Pilgrim's Progress. In Regress the main character leaves his home of Puritania - ruled by a powerful but unseen Landlord - in search of his heart's desire, a beautiful island. He wanders through all the philosophies of the world including Hedonism, Atheism, Nihilism and many more "isms". All throughout, Lewis brilliantly manages to make complex theological and philosophical truths plain with simple allegory. There are moments of pure joy in this story.

The book presents stories of many lesser known figures, women, children, and ordinary citizens, as well as well known political figures. Each individual's significant legacy of faith and courage impacted by war brings insights into their faith, lives, and society in which they lived.
The trials and triumphs represented in this book, whether they took place yesterday or years ago, point us to timeless truths we can each apply to our own lives: God's Word was relevant to them, and it is just as relevant to us today.

Some Parting Fun....

The pastor told the search committee, "If I am voted in as pastor of this church, I will work hard to bring us into the 20th century."
Someone spoke up: " Uh, Preacher, don't you mean the 21st century?"
The pastor replied, "Let's take it one century at a time."
