Dear ,

The Bible is, among many things, a guidebook for our daily life. It gives us many examples of things we should do and characteristics we should have. Following the guidelines set for us in the Bible can help us live a more complete Christian life. Here are a few examples of characteristics of a Christian found in the Bible.

  • Convictions are the developing of firm beliefs. Our convictions are based on Bible principles. Convictions won't change, no matter what the circumstances. It is important that we stick with them. The Bible tells us what some of our convictions should be in Titus 2:12. "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age."
  • Contentment is an uncomplaining acceptance of your circumstances. We need to realize that God will provide everything we need to adjust to different circumstances. We need to be content with what we have, and realize that we are a lot better off than many people. The Bible mentions contentment in 1 Timothy 6:5. "Now godliness with contentment is great gain."
  • Humility is being meek and modest in spirit. We should not have wrongful pride in ourselves or our accomplishments. Instead, we should give credit to God. The Bible mentions humility in 1 Peter 5:5 and 6. "...Be clothed with humility, for 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.' Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time."
  • Purity is keeping yourself uncontaminated from the world, the flesh, and the devil. The Bible mentions purity in Philippians 4:8. "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things."
  • Forgiveness is the ability to overlook someone's weaknesses or mistakes and express Christ's love. It is important to forgive others, because if we don't we won't have many friends and friendship is important. The Bible tells of forgiveness in Colossians 3:13. "Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do."
  • Friendliness is having the attitude of knowing, liking, and accepting other people, we need to accept them the way they are because that is how God made them. The Bible mentions friendship in Proverbs 18:24. "A man who has friends must himself be friendly..."

Blessings,

Steve

Humility
In Store or On-Line

This is a classic book about humility! Bigger ones have been written but no better ones! Nor has any other author who wrote on humility ever journeyed from the strong pride to deep humility that Andrew Murray did.

Andrew Murray's pride was so great that he tried to stop the beginning of a revival in his church in South Africa-a revival for which his father had prayed for sixty years. But through the years after that, God taught Andrew Murray the ways of humility and its relation to faith, holiness, happiness, and exaltation. And he shares it all with you in this timeless book.

It has been said that pride is the mother of all sins, and, unfortunately, Christians often suffer from it as much as non-believers. For that reason, this book should be read time and again by every Christian.

Some Parting Fun....
So far today, God, I've done all right.

I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent. I'm really glad about that.

But in a few minutes, God, I'm going to get out of bed and from then on I'm probably going to need a lot more help.

Thank you.

In Jesus name. Amen
