Dear ,
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today. I know that He is living, Whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy; I hear His voice of cheer; And just the time I need Him He's always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.
- Alfred H. Ackley (1887-1960)
I am so thankful that Jesus Christ is just as alive today as He was right after the resurrection. He's just as alive today as he was when he walked with the disciples.
Serving a living God gives me great comfort! He knows my coming and going, my rising up and laying down. He is before me, behind me, above me, below me and beside me. Every day, every hour, every minute and second, there is nothing I do that he does not know, that he does not care, that he does not guide and protect.
He provides me with a song in my heart! He walks beside me in the quiet stillness of the valley and gives me hope for the journey. He knows my every need and burden; providing for me in a way that I could never do on my own. A god with no life can not do these things. He cannot see, or hear, or care, or provide.
OUR GOD IS ALIVE!!
Our Easter celebration doesn't end when the holiday is past and the decorations have been stored. Christ is Alive! Rejoice, and live each day with the assurance that Easter brings new life where once there was death, a song where once there was mourning. Don't live in agony or defeat as if Christ is still on the cross or in the tomb.
HE is alive!, He IS alive!, He is ALIVE!
HE IS ALIVE!
Blessings,
<><

Good Friday - Tenebrae Service
|
Some of you may have heard of "Tenebrae" services being held around the area this Good Friday and wondered just what it meant.
The word "tenebrae" comes from the Latin meaning "darkness." The Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday service that makes use of gradually diminishing light through the extinguishing of candles to symbolize the events of that week from the triumphant Palm Sunday entry through Jesus' burial.
This increasing darkness symbolizes the approaching darkness of Jesus' death and of hopelessness in the world without God. The service concludes in darkness, sometimes with a final candle, the Christ candle, carried out of the sanctuary, symbolizing the death of Jesus. A loud noise may also sound symbolizing the closing of Jesus' tomb. The worshipers then leave in silence to ponder the impact of Christ's death and await the coming Resurrection.
If you have the opportunity to attend such a service do so, it will humble your spirit as you prepare your heart for the Easter celebration.
If you do not have a service planned this evening, Marie and I invite you to join us as we attend a Tenebrae service being held at:
Asbury United Methodist Church
2816 Alexandria Pike
Highland Heights, KY
7:29 PM
All are Welcome!

Some Parting Fun.... |
An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him, "How do you expect to get into Heaven?"
The boy thought it over and said, "Well, I'll run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says,
"For Heaven's sake, Johnny, come in or stay out!'"
