With Valentines Day coming up this week I was reflecting on what perfect love might look like. I was reminded of John 3:16. Have you ever meditated on the verse? Let's take a minute and really look at it.
For God
The Alpha and Omega, the Great I AM, Creator of the UNIVERSE! Think about how awesome He is. There is no one higher, He is the Lord of everything.
so loved the world,
The world?, with all of it's mess and strife and turmoil and humans? YES! He loved the world - you, me, those we know and love, and yes, even those who we think don't deserve love. He Loved the world.
that he gave his only begotten Son,
I can't even imagine the depth of love it would take to give my only Son. What a sacrifice, are you beginning to see just how much God loves you? So much so that he GAVE - a gift so precious, so willingly, so freely. It's beyond our comprehension.
that whosoever believeth in him
Anyone who receives God's gift. It doesn't matter how good you are: you can't be good enough to earn a gift so precious. It doesn't matter how bad you've been either - the gift is offered freely to all because He LOVES us. All we have to do is receive and believe. (Read Ephesians 2:8)
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Perfect eternal life, no more pain, where no tears will fill the eye, the lion will lay down with the lamb, we will be embraced as joint heirs with JESUS! Beautiful, transformed, perfect bodies, living life as intended - worshiping and loving God!
