After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." Matthew 2:1-2 (NIV)
Today, January 6th, we celebrate Epiphany. An epiphany is a sudden manifestation or an intuitive grasp of reality through something usually simple and striking.
For Christianity, Epiphany is the celebration of the Magi's visit to the newborn king. Their acknowledgement of Jesus as the long awaited Messiah, the Christ, is good news in that it represents God's love for all of mankind no matter what nationality, race, culture, or standing.
They followed a star and in faith worshipped Him.
It's still that simple and as the Gospel is shared, time and time again with epiphanal understanding, seekers still find the Christ. The only difference today is that the Star that led the Magi is now the light of Christ shining through us, leading others to His cross of love.
Be aware today, and all through the year, that you may be the only light someone may see shining in a dark world. Shine your light so that others may find, and come to know Him, whom we worship and adore.

A little girl and her mother were looking at the Nativity scene. The mother was explaining that the Wise Men were presenting their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the newborn King.
The little girl looked in great adoration at the babe in the manger, then turning to her mother, thoughtfully asked, "Why didn't they bring Him a bed.?"

Join me in the journey?
It's been a few years since I have read completely through the Bible. This year I'm going to apply myself to do it again. 
Each week in the Logos Bookstore Newsletter we publish a reading plan that will take you chronologically through the Bible in one year. Chronologically simply means arranged in the order of time.
One of the great values of any Bible reading schedule is the development of the discipline of reading. God's chosen method of making His will known today is through His written word.
Send me an email if you plan to follow the daily readings. It will be fun to keep in touch as we read through the entire Bible in one year.
