Logos Christian Bookstore Newsletter |
Dear ,
The children at our at our church are involved in a very important ministry project. They are working to fill nice cloth bags with non-perishable food, and personal hygienic supplies, that could be carried in the family car. The bag will then be handed out when someone in need is seen on the street.
"The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40
It was a cold winter's day that Sunday. The parking lot to the church was filling up quickly. I noticed as I got out of my car that fellow church members were whispering among themselves as they walked to the church.
As I got closer I saw a man leaned up against the wall outside the church. He was almost laying down as if he was asleep. He had on a long trench coat that was almost in shreds and a hat topped his head, pulled down so you could not see his face.
He wore shoes that looked 30 years old, too small for his feet with holes all over them as well as his toes sticking out of one shoe. I assumed this man was homeless, and asleep, so I walked on by through the doors of the church.
We all gathered for fellowship for a few minutes, and someone mentioned the man laying outside People snickered and gossiped but no one bothered to ask him to come in, including me.
A few moments later church began. We all waited for the Preacher to take his place and give us the Word, when the doors to the church opened. In came the homeless man walking down the aisle with his head down.
People gasped and whispered and made faces. He made his way down the aisle and up onto the pulpit and took off his coat and hat.
My heart sank. There stood our preacher...he was the "homeless man".
No one said a word. The preacher took his Bible and laid it on the stand and said, "Folks, I don't think I have to tell you what I am preaching about today."
Find a way this week to help someone in need. It could be a sandwich for a hungry person or a check to a local mission organization. A small effort, in Jesus name, on our part can make a huge difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
Remember this: Giving, is not your chance to bless someone else, but God's chance to bless you. (Luke 6:38)
Blessings,

Just Do Something |
Yogi Bera once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, Take It!"
That's good advice, and sometimes Christians need to just take the fork rather than second guessing if it's the right thing to do or not.

Pastor and author Kevin DeYoung counsels Christians to settle down, make choices, and do the hard work of seeing those choices through. Too often, he writes, God's people tinker around with churches, jobs, and relationships, worrying that they haven't found God's perfect will for their lives. Or---even worse---they do absolutely nothing, stuck in a frustrated state of paralyzed indecision, waiting . . . waiting . . . waiting for clear, direct, unmistakable direction.
But God doesn't need to tell us what to do at each fork in the road. He's already revealed his plan for our lives: to love him with our whole hearts, to obey His Word, and after that, to do what we like.
No need for hocus-pocus. No reason to be directionally challenged. Just do something.

Some Parting Fun.... |
A little boy opened the big and old family Bible with fascination, and looked at the old pages as he turned them.
Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible, and he picked it up and looked at it closely. It was an old leaf from a tree that had been pressed in between the pages.
"Momma, look what I found," the boy called out.
"What have you got there, dear?" his mother asked.
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered:
"I think it's Adam's suit!"
