Dear ,
You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me. -Acts 1:8
This Sunday is Pentecost, the day we remember the coming of the Holy Spirit onto those first Christ followers.
Because of what happened on the Day of Pentecost (described in Acts 2), we tend to associate the Holy Spirit's presence and power with amazing phenomena and large numbers (tongues of fire, understanding foreign languages, over 3000 souls won for Christ). We forget that a little later the same people filled with the same Holy Spirit were rejected, flogged, imprisoned, even executed. But through it all they were powerful witnesses!
The Holy Spirit's presence and power can be evidenced in a dynamic preacher who attracts great audiences. But it is seen as well in the volunteer who carries on a one-on-one prison ministry, in the person who witnesses to a co-worker or a neighbor, and in the Sunday school teacher who faithfully teaches week after week.
The power of Pentecost is not especially reserved for the highly gifted. Rather, it is available to all believers in Christ who want to serve Him.
God's guidance and help that we need day to day
Are given to all who believe;
The Spirit has come and He is the source
Of power that we can receive. -Branon
This Sunday, as we remember Pentecost, remember also that the power of God's Spirit gives power to our witness.
Blessings,
Steve

Help IHN get Wheels! |
The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Northern Kentucky is one of 500 finalists in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program, which will award vehicles to 100 non-profit organizations based on votes from the public that started May 9.
The 100 Cars for Good program will showcase five nonprofit organizations each day for 100 days on Toyota's Facebook page, http://facebook.com/toyota. Visitors to the page can vote once per day for the organization they feel is most deserving of a new Toyota vehicle. The one with the most votes, of the five listed each day, will receive a new Toyota vehicle.
If IHN receives the most votes and is awarded a new Toyota, it will be used to replace the organization's current vehicle, which is breaking down and unreliable for transporting homeless children and families. The new vehicle will help transport kids to school and make sure parents get to job and housing interviews or important education and counseling classes that enable them to return to employment and a home of their own.
IHN will be one of the five organizations highlighted for voting on
Wednesday, June 15.

Some Parting Fun.... |
A four year old was at the pediatrician for a check up.
As the doctor looked down her ears with an otoscope, he asked, "Do you think I'll find Big Bird in here?"
The little girl stayed silent.
Next, the doctor took a tongue depressor and looked down her throat. He asked, "Do you think I'll find the Cookie Monster down there?"
Again, the little girl was silent.
Then the doctor put a stethoscope to her chest. As he listened to her heart beat, he asked, "Do you think I'll hear Barney in there?"
"Oh, no!" the little girl replied. "Jesus is in my heart. Barney's on my underpants."
