Dear ,
On the road the other day I saw this St. Augustine quote on the marquee at First Christian Church in Ft. Thomas and it really spoke to me....
God Loves Each of Us
as if
There Were Only One of Us!
We are all familiar with the scripture, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NIV)
At times, each of us need to have a reminder that God would have done this even if we, as an individual, were the only person in the world! We all know that God loves everyone in general but what we desperately want to hear is that God loves us in particular.
A pastor once instructed his congregation to take their Bibles and open them to John 3:16. He then said: "I want you to read through the passage. 'For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.' Now I want to take your pencil and I want you to lightly scratch out the words 'the World' and in the margin I want you to write your name. Now read the passage again inserting your name in the place of 'the world.' Read it one more time. Do you hear what God is saying to you? God knows you by name. God loves YOU! If you were the only one in the world needing the healing love of Jesus to deliver you from death to new life, Jesus would have given himself just for you."
The question then becomes, "Do I believe that God loves me, ME, enough to do this?"
Yes! Without a doubt we can be assured that He does.
The Bible gives us many examples of just how much God loves us as individuals. For example, in Luke 8, think of the man possessed by demons, wandering naked around a graveyard, that Jesus made a special trip across the sea of Galilee to see. I think Jesus went there just for him. Even without knowing him, Jesus loved him, and went out of his way to save him. Or what about the woman at the well found in John 4? Jesus cared so much for her that he traveled through Samaria, something no Jewish person would have thought of doing!
Psalm 139 states "You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. .....
....... For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
It doesn't matter who you are, it doesn't matter where you live, how much money you make or don't make, how good or bad you've been, or what you may have done.
God loves you and wants you to know it.
Blessings,
Steve

Help IHN get Wheels! |
The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Northern Kentucky is one of 500 finalists in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program, which will award vehicles to 100 non-profit organizations based on votes from the public that started May 9.
The 100 Cars for Good program will showcase five nonprofit organizations each day for 100 days on Toyota's Facebook page, http://facebook.com/toyota. Visitors to the page can vote once per day for the organization they feel is most deserving of a new Toyota vehicle. The one with the most votes, of the five listed each day, will receive a new Toyota vehicle.
If IHN receives the most votes and is awarded a new Toyota, it will be used to replace the organization's current vehicle, which is breaking down and unreliable for transporting homeless children and families. The new vehicle will help transport kids to school and make sure parents get to job and housing interviews or important education and counseling classes that enable them to return to employment and a home of their own.
IHN will be one of the five organizations highlighted for voting on
Wednesday, June 15.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!
Please spread the word to help IHN - tell your church, your friends, your neighbors - this is a great organization, worthy of our support!

What would you like them to say at your funeral?
Three friends were discussing the inevitable end of this earthly life with their pastor and the question came from the pastor, "What would you like people to say about you at your funeral?"
The first friend thought for a moment and said, "I would like for people to say that I was a great father who always put his family first. I want to be remembered as someone who raised his children to love the Lord and to be generous with friends and neighbors."
The second friend had some similar thoughts and said, "I want to be remembered for my years of service as a school teacher and Sunday school leader. I've tried to live and teach so that others will know the depth of love and grace of our Father for each of us."
"Wow!", said the pastor, "Those are some lofty goals and it would be very commendable if you are remembered by your friends for those accomplishments."
The pastor then turned to the last friend and posed the question again, "What would you like people to say about you at your funeral?"
The third friend, with no hesitation, said.........
"Look!, he's moving!"
