Logos Christian Bookstore Newsletter

Dear ,

The Bible is really clear that we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart. Many only acknowledge Him on holidays such as Christmas, Good Friday or Easter. Here's the thing, if we have really had an encounter with the living Christ, we will be devoted to him on a daily basis.  If perhaps you have fallen away from your first love. I'd like to share with you a few things to keep your love relationship alive everyday.

One of the keys to managing any relationship is recognizing another persons presence in a room.  If you will take a moment right now and just close your eyes and get silent before God. Begin to think about his promise to never leave you and then start talking to him. You may need need to start by asking His forgiveness because you have been ignoring Him.

Here are some steps on How to Worship God Everyday

Ask for forgiveness. Daily humble yourself before God and ask for His forgiveness for the wrong things that you have done. Ask him to give you grace and mercy in your time of need.

Read your bible daily.  Even if it's only a small portion of scripture the chances are great that your life will be effected by your choice to seek God by reading the scriptures.

Talk to the Lord through prayer all day. Take time first thing in the morning to recognize His presence in your life. Thank Him for another day of life as soon as you awake in the morning. Begin to talk to Him as though he were in the room, because He is!

Listen to Christian music daily. This is a huge "How to" for worshiping God on a daily basis. The bible explains that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people.

Fellowship with other Christians regularly. Develop friendships with people who really know and love God with all of their hearts.

Blessings,

Celebration of Discipline
In the twenty years since its publication, Celebration of Discipline has helped over a million seekers discover a richer spiritual life infused with joy, peace, and a deeper understanding of God. For this special twentieth anniversary edition, Richard J. Foster has added an introduction, in which he shares the story of how this beloved and enduring spiritual guidebook came to be.

Hailed by many as the best modern book on Christian spirituality, Celebration of Discipline explores the "classic Disciplines," or central spiritual practices, of the Christian faith. Along the way, Foster shows that it is only by and through these practices that the true path to spiritual growth can be found.

Dividing the Disciplines into three movements of the Spirit, Foster shows how each of these areas contribute to a balanced spiritual life. The inward Disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study, offer avenues of personal examination and change. The outward Disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission, and service, help prepare us to make the world a better place. The corporate Disciplines of confession, worship, guidance, and celebration, bring us nearer to one another and to God.

Foster provides a wealth of examples demonstrating how these Disciplines can become part of our daily activities-and how they can help us shed our superficial habits and "bring the abundance of God into our lives." He offers crucial new insights on simplicity, demonstrating how the biblical view of simplicity, properly understood and applied, brings joy and balance to our inward and outward lives and "sets us free to enjoy the provision of God as a gift that can be shared with others." The discussion of celebration, often the most neglected of the Disciplines, shows its critical importance, for it stands at the heart of the way to Christ. Celebration of Discipline will help motivate Christians everywhere to embark on a journey of prayer and spiritual growth.

Some Parting Fun....
A man, down on his luck, went into a church which catered to the "uppity".  Spotting the man's dirty clothes a deacon, worried about the churches image, went to the man and asked him if he needed help.

The man said, "I was praying and the Lord told me to come to this church."

The deacon suggested that the man go pray some more and possibly he might get a different answer.

The next Sunday the man returned.

The deacon asked, "Did you get a different answer?"

The man replied, "Yes I did. I told the Lord that they don't want me in that church and the Lord said,

"Don't worry about it son; I've been trying to get into that church for years and haven't made it yet."
