Greetings!
|
We're helping pilots save on fuel costs, in a couple of ways:
Angel Flight West pilots receive .50/gallon discount while on mission. Jet A or 100LL. Details below.
Davis Flight Support full service Jet A is 19% lower than other Sacramento area FBO's. Check their website for a quick look at current area prices for both Jet A and 100LL. Web links below.

The Wings Of Freedom event was a huge success. Thanks to all who attended, promoted, and volunteered. We look forward to hosting them again next year. Our Jet A fuel price is 19% lower than competing FBO's; check current fuel prices HERE. Our remodeling project will be completed in August. Even under construction, our fuel sales have been increasing monthly. Introducing our newest employees at Davis Flight Support: Marci Ray and Cheyne Rowe. Marci is our Customer Service Rep; she hit the ground running on her first day, and hasn't stopped since! We all appreciate her demeanor and professionalism; so do our customers, as the compliments continue to pour in about her. We're glad you're here Marci! Cheyne joined our Line Service crew this month; he brings experience and excellent training from Avant Air in Camarillo, and will be attending the NATA Safety 1st course this summer. He's already proven to be valuable to our team. Welcome! Contact Dan for a personal tour of the new facilities, discuss hangar fees, or fuel discounts: 530-759-8766. - J.Pilot |

Xerion Avionix AuRACLE Engine Management SystemThe
XERION AuRACLE Engine Management System is a single device that will graphically
represent all engine instrumentation and fuel situational awareness. It will also display precise
multi-cylinder engine monitoring of Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGT) and Cylinder
Head Temperatures (CHT). The AuRACLE is designed to act as the primary engine instrumentation for aircraft, and will be configured
properly to reflect OEM instrumentation scales, limitations, and warnings. Once configured to a respective airframe and engine combination,
the AuRACLE will provide the most advanced monitoring available, providing readouts for the following functions: - TACH
- MAP
- CHT
- EGT
for all cylinders
- TIT (optional)
- Percent HP & Actual HP
- Induction Air Temperature (IAT optional)
- Compressor Discharge Temperature (optional)
- Instrument pressure (vacuum or
pressure)
- Oil Pressure
- Oil Temp
- Fuel quantity (all tanks)
- Fuel Flow as bar graphs with digital readouts
- Fuel Computer
- Voltage
- AMPS
- Flight Data Logging (downloadable / compatible with EGView for engine analysis)
The AuRACLE CRM2100 is a dual-box networked system. The system's Engine Interface Unit (EIU) is mounted on the engine-side of the
firewall; all engine sensors connect directly to the EIU. The engine data is communicated on a true aerospace network via a CAN
bus to the Display Unit (DU). The AuRACLE CRM2101 is a single-box unit designed to replace an existing JPI engine monitor, and is capable of connecting to your
existing JPI engine monitor harness directly with no modifications
required! All sensors from your existing engine monitor are re-usable
with the exception of any pressure sensors currently in place. Standard pricing for both models (prices do not include installation): - CRM2100 for 6 cylinder engines: $7495
- CRM2101 for 6 cylinder engines: $6995
Special upgrade offer for JPI EDM700 (w/Fuel Flow) and EDM800 owners:-
CRM2101 to replace an EDM700 (w/FF) on 6 cylinder engines: $5995 (plus installation)
- CRM2101 to replace an EDM800 on 6 cylinder engines: $5650 (plus installation)
Each aircraft configuration is unique - as is the installation (and quote); contact Mike Prezbindowski for a personal consultation and live demonstration. Mike's direct number: 530-669-3105. - J.Pilot

Aircraft Windshield Care and MaintenanceMost aircraft windshields and windows are acrylic plastic (commonly called Plexiglass), which is soft and scratchable. Proper care includes identifying the type of scratch, cleaning, right product choice, and common sense preventions. Identifying the types of scratches: - Surface. Minute scratches are accumulated as part of everyday life.
- Shallow. These scratches are noticeable when flying toward bright or sunny conditions.
- Deep. If you can feel it with your fingernail, STOP; call Woodland Aviation to fix it properly!
Prep before cleaning: - Always remove as much abrasive dirt as
possible without touching the surface. Ideally this would involve flushing the
surface with water and allowing the accumulated bug residue to soak, possibly
with a little dish washing liquid added to the water.
- If a little rubbing is needed, do it
lightly with your bare hand.
- After a final flushing with more
water, carefully dry with a clean soft cloth, then use a good grade
cleaner/polish intended for acrylic windows.
- To remove masking tape residue or sticky / greasy stuff, the safest solvents are 100% mineral spirits, kerosene or isopropyl alcohol.
- Use the softest cotton cloth available such as recycled diapers. These are 100% cotton flannel, and are available at
yard goods stores. Another benefit is they can be washed and reused,
thereby effectively recycling the material and reducing landfill materials.
- Before fixing a deeper scratch with an abrasive product, think about what
it will do to your windshield. Scratch removers contain more abrasives which grind down the surrounding area.
- Keep in mind - some scratches are best left alone; sometimes the cure is worse than the ailment. If you are at this stage
its best left to professionals (see previous bullet point).
Products: Everyone has a favorite, but be aware of using products never meant for cleaning aircraft windows, such as glass cleaner or furniture polish. We use Meguiar's Mirror Glaze at Woodland Aviation, and believe it's one of many that work well. Cleaning products can be loosely grouped into three categories (note some products are scratch filling while others are scratch removing): - Non-abrasive cremes that have scratch filling properties.
- Non-abrasive liquid sprays; may or may not have scratch filling properties.
- Mildly-abrasive creams that have scratch removing properties.
Prevention: Canopy covers and sun shields can both protect...and damage. The protection aspect is obvious, but the damage potential may not be. Canopy covers need to be fitted and cinched down tight to prevent fluttering, as well as be cleaned regularly to eliminate abrasive particle build up. Sun shields should be fitted for your aircraft; check for sharp metallic edges, especially sliding them in sloping windshields. Protect your entire investment inside and out with well-fitted and professional covers / sun shields. Many aircraft flying today have windshields that are
well over 20 years old. If properly installed and maintained, longevity is attained. When you take time to understand the material, products and the
processes; the rest is easy!
If you would like to find out more about our windshield repair services, or get a list of solvents to avoid, call our Woodland Aviation customer service reps Laura or Kesty: 800-442-1333. - J.Pilot

Bonanza's On Steroids: Tornado Alley TurbosWe're beefing up Bonanza's with the 6th installation of a Tornado Alley turbo- normalizing system installation this year (a B36TC conversion). Many owners are coming to a similar conclusion: they aren't ready to part with their aircraft, and are choosing the option to make it go "higher, faster, farther." Contact Shawn or Mac for details or request a tour of these ongoing projects.
