Friends and Colleagues: As I mentioned in the last McCormack Update, we are re-installing our post-election brown bag lunch tradition, beginning this Wednesday, November 4th-12:00-1:00 PM. The Tuesday election will not only determine the next Mayor of Boston, but will settle 2 important gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia, where Republican candidates are trying to re-establish the red state hegemony.  Exit polling across the country will be setting the stage for the critical mid-term Congressional elections next year. The Massachusetts electorate will be turning its attention to the special election to fill Ted Kennedy's seat, a race which is certain to heat up in the next 5 weeks until the December 8th primary.  And finally, we'll be musing about the job Obama is doing, and the status of the Gordian Knots of health care reform and Afghanistan/Pakistan. As a special feature, Bob Turner, 42 year political journalist and columnist for the Boston Globe, will resurrect his Globe post-election staple, "Hidden winners and losers."
