TIPS, READS & LEADS - Ask The Organizer Event

Hello   ,

Baby Gavin FletcherOn April 29th our first grandchild was born (four weeks early!)  Let me introduce Gavin Riley Fletcher with his proud grandparents.  Even though he was early, he came into this world at 19.5 inches and 6.9 pounds.  What a joyful event for our family, especially for our son and daughter-in-law Tom and Tanya, and Auntie Heather.

Appreciating each and every day,

Shelly

GETTING ORGANIZED in 2010

May is a great month for Yard Sales.    Here are tips to make it a successful sale.

THE GREAT YARD SALE

Make a decision before the sale on what will happen with what's left over.  You do not want to bring the clutter back into your life.  Contact a charity to pick up unsold items the day after your sale.

Keep it simple.  Group items on tables and post a sign "anything on this table for $1 (or other price).  Keep pricing in 25¢ increments to simplify pricing and making change.

Pin clothing sets together so they don't get separated.  Separate clothes by men's, women's, children, good, dressy, winter, summer, etc.  Hang better clothes on hangers; set up a canopy-type tent if possible.

Have a mirror handy for clothing shoppers, extension cord for electric items, and original instruction manuals if available.

Sell drink and refreshments (or provide for free).  Play background music.

Set up a children's play/color area so parents can shop without distraction.

Provides lots of bags and boxes to carry items away.

Place larger and more attractive items near the front where they are sure to catch the eye of people driving by.

For security keep your change in apron pockets or fanny pack.  Have a partner help out so items are not left unattended at any time.

Be sure to check local codes regarding placement of signs and sale ordinances.

Protect your property during the sale; clearly mark any hazards like steps or sprinkler heads; block off driveways so cars don't use them to turn around; provide large trash can near your sale.

Post a "Not Responsible for Accidents" sign.
