TIPS & TRICKS
Eyeglass ContainerUnusual Containers
Many of you know that I love to find unusual uses for common containers like keeping my USB flash drives in an empty eyeglass case.  My trick is to look for containers in unusual places; like the sporting goods stores (fishing lure boxes are wonderful for jewelry) or the hardware stores (use coat hooks to hang purses or umbrellas).

Recommendation:  Determine the quantity and eventual location of the contained items before buying the container.  I can't tell you how many storage boxes I bought because they were "cute" and found that they didn't fit on my shelves.  Measure first - buy later.
PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Rainy Day Projects
Winter months are a good time to tackle small indoor projects like the junk rawer, pantry, closet, library and home files.  One person I know took advantage of a recent storm power outage to sort out his home office files since he could not watch TV or surf the Internet.  He told me that he really would have used another five days without power to get it all done.  Good use of a bad situation wouldn't you say?

Email me at detailsbyshelly@yahoo.com with your "rainy day" organizing strategies and I'll share the best ones in a future newsletter.
