Authors...Look up your retail book sales on Amazon!
If you're a published author, don't forget that you can review the sales data for your books on Amazon. Click here and setup a free author account. You will be asked to prove that you're the author of your books and create a bibliography of all your titles.
Once you're account is setup, you can log-in and find a tab at the top of the main page that says "Sale Info." Click on that tab and see your actual sales history for the past 30 days, which may be exhilarating or depressing. However, it's better to know the truth from BookScan than obsess over Amazon's the faulty sales ranking system. Enjoy!

Cool Word-of-Mouth Tool
for Authors from SocialTwist

I'm a big fan of the free social media marketing service called "Tell-a-Friend" from www.SocialTwist.com. Their entry-level product is called Tell-a-Friend4Free (TAF4Free), and it allows people to share online information utilizing more than 80 of the most popular social media channels. When you register for a free account, SocialTwist will give you the computer code to embed cool-looking "Tell-a-Friend" buttons onto your website pages or blog.
When a visitor clicks on your "Tell-a-Friend" button, a little window pops up that gives them the option to instantly tell someone about you. The visitor can choose to notify others via email, instant messaging, link to their blog, or share the word on a social network account, such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as bookmarking services such as Delicious and Digg. All you have to do is embed the TAF4Free button into your blog or website. Then, visitors who like what you are doing can spread the word and recommend you to their friends, contacts, and networks using their own address books.
Even better, you can log-in to your SocialTwist account and view a report that tells you how many times people have clicked on your Tell-a-Friend buttons and told someone else about you. To improve your response rates, I recommend that you sprinkle these little buttons all over your website. Use them generously and make them easy to see.
I encouraged one of my clients to use these little buttons when building her new author website. Within the first year, she received over 500 referrals! That's a lot of free word of mouth that she wouldn't have garnered otherwise. Try "Tell-a-Friend" buttons, the result speaks for itself!
