WildFire Marketing E-Newsletter
March, 2011 |
Lysa TerKeurst shares how WildFire Marketing
helped her become a New York Times bestseller.
Congrats to Lysa on her hard work and amazing achievement. Her new book, Made to Crave, has spent the last seven weeks in row on the New York Times paperback advice bestseller list! We're honored to be a part of Lysa's success.
I posted this video as a marketing example for several reasons:
1. I love to celebrate the success of my clients!
2. I want you to know that I took this video with my phone! Yes, my phone...my iPhone 4 to be exact, which comes with a built-in, high-definition video camera. Lysa and I recorded this video in a matter of minutes. It's easier than ever before to take high-quality video of your products and customers. Use this technology to make your marketing more effective.
3. I want you to see the power of video testimonials to build your credibility. It's one thing to display a written endorsement from someone. It's much better to show convincing video testimonials on your website and other online marketing tools.
4. ConstantContact, the service I use to create and send this e-newsletter, just added this feature where you can insert video links directly into your newsletter. This feature makes your newsletter come alive by sending your readers engaging multi-media content, rather than just words and pictures. If you're not using ConstantContact, click here for a free, 60-day trial. They're the best in the business for e-newsletters.

Rob Eagar's Top 10 App List for
Authors and Business Owners
I confess that I've turned into an iGeek after discovering the power of apps for the iPhone and iPad. I've found these gadgets so helpful that sometimes they're with me all day long. If you're an iJunkie like me, or you love your new Droid smartphone, check out my Top 10 Helpful Apps for authors and business owners:
DropBox is probably my most favorite app because it allows me to access all of my business files on any of my devices at any time (iPhone, iPad, laptop, desktop computer, etc.). Not only does this app keep everything synced together at all times, but I can even make certain files available to clients for their use. Everything is password-protected and I always have access to important information - especially when I'm traveling. Even better, DropBox is free!
Office2 HD is the best mobile app I've found to create and edit my MicroSoft Office Word documents and spreadsheets on the go. I tried other apps including QuickOffice and Apple Pages, but Office2 HD is the best bet. For only $7.99, it's worth every penny to me.
The New York Times app includes every part of the NYT newspaper. So, you can stay on top of the latest news, including world events, business, stocks, sports, and the publishing industry. The amazing part about this app is that it's free, and there are really cool videos made available each day. I like to watch the video news on my iPad while I work out...helps take my mind off the pain that my muscles feel.
Book Business for iPad is a great new app for authors and those who work in the publishing industry. This free app mirrors the print magazine that comes out every other month. Stay on top of the latest trends with books, publishers, and e-books.
Amazon Kindle has taken the place of the iBooks app on my iPad and iPhone, because Amazon has such a larger selection of e-books right now than Apple. That may change in the future. But, this free app is the top e-reader in my opinion. Use it to preview books, make wish lists, and read your favorite fiction or non-fiction anytime, anywhere.
TripAdvisor is my most used resource for travel information on hotels and restaurants. I used this free app on a recent airplane flight at 30,000 feet to research and book hotel rooms by the time I landed at my destination...very cool.
TripIt is an incredible, free app that helps you manage your travel itinerary on the go, such as plane flights, car rental, hotel, meeting locations, etc. I no longer have to carry a bunch of confirmation papers with me when I travel. I simply forward all of my schedule details to TripIt by email, and they automatically load them into my app account. My wife has the same app on her iPhone, so she can follow my itinerary and know my schedule. If you travel consistently for business, this app is a must.
TED is an interesting free app that provides access to the quirky videos presented by experts on all kinds of issues, such as innovation, technology, education, music, etc. A great feature is the ability to store videos to watch on your iPad even when you don't have Internet access. This app has gotten me through some long delays at airports.
I-Nigma is the best fee app for scanning QR codes, like what you see on the left column of this e-newsletter. I'm a big believer in the future of QR codes for marketing. Read this article for more details. Get this app to take advantage of the promotional possibilities for your book or business.
Scrabble wins my "most addictive" app award. You can't be all work without a little play. And, this app really delivers for word-nerds like authors and publishing people. The coolest feature of this app is the ability to link your iPhone via a bluetooth connection to use as your letter holder. You can literally "flick" letters off of your iPhone onto the iPad. I'm currently playing against the computer at the hardest level and winning 30 - 40% of the time. I'll take on anyone in this game! At $9.99, it's worth paying for the fun challenge.
That's my top 10 list of most helpful apps for authors and business owners. I hope these technological resources make your life a little easier. There are literally over 350,000 apps available with new ones added every day. So, I invite you to tell me about your favorites. Shoot me an email to: Rob@StartaWildfire.com
