Baby burro is here!
One of my favorite animals here at Angelica Ranch are the mini-donkeys, also known as burros. They are very affectionate, and stand about 3 ft tall when full grown.
Ellie, the grey donkey in the picture finally had her baby June 4th, my birthday. What a great present! The baby is white spotted, like his dad Odie. He is only a week old and already comes right up to be petted whenever someone comes to visit. The baby is full of joy, love, and mysteries. We decided to name him Quero, which means bringing new light, balance and rainbows to the world.
There has been quite a mystery surrounding the baby. We originally thought Ellie was due in January. No baby arrived. Ellie looked big,, but could have just been chubby. I felt there was a baby. But as more time went on, I started to doubt myself. Maybe Ellie had been pregnant, but lost the baby. I checked poor Ellie so many times over the months, and I am sure she got sick of me asking if she was pregnant, because the answer was always "yes". Well, finally little baby arrived.
Quero has already taught about trust, and enjoying the mystery of life unfolding( important lessons for me). Now he loves to run and kick up his heels for the pure joy of it! I am sure Quero will have much more to teach all of us as time goes by. And he will no doubt be a star of the upcoming animal workshops ( more on that soon).
