Is your face Symmetrical?
What side of your face is most imbalanced? Many of us notice how assymetrical our faces truly are. The ancient Chinese Observed a long time ago that the right and left side of the face show very different properties.
Interestingly the more symmetrical your face is the more beautiful you are considered to be in our society (Supermodels have close facial symmetry)- at an unconcious level we all must know that it is because it is a sign of good health. The right side of the face corresponds to the Yin side and the left to the Yang side ( please note that the body is the opposite).
The yin side is the female side and corresponds to femininity, coolness, substance, body organs, body fluids, blood, the unconscious mind. The right side is Yang and relates to masculinity, heat and the external world, virility, energy, circulation.
If you look in the mirror you will notice often that a lot more happens on one side of face rather than the other (more lines, blemishes, pigmentation etc).
This is an indication that there is a yin / yang imbalance in the body. On a deeper level it can also be a family health pattern passed down from your mother's side (if it is on the right) or fathers (if it is the left side of the body). If you are healthy you will have a good balance of both Yin and Yang energy in the body. As one energy becomes stronger, the other weakens, creating disease patterns in the body. Most people are born with a constitution that is weaker in Yin these days particularly in the western world. It is interesting to note that most asian countries like Japan eat more cooling foods due to macrobiotics- a diet that balances Yin and Yang(seaweeds, fish, soy etc) . Japanese women rarely suffer from Menopause- which is in essence an imbalance of yin and Yang that causes it. Our western diet is too yang. Yang producing foods are sweet, spicy, deep fried/processed foods. If you want to reduce wrinkles and fine lines you need to eat more Yin foods. Yin foods nourish the skin, reduce dryness, plump up the skin, tendons and muscles. When there is not enough yin the skin of the body can dry out and almost feel leathery and wrinkles form easily. When there is too much heat in the body all the body fluids evaporate easily making the Yin deficiency worse. Drinking water is also imperitative to nourish yin but only when you are thirsty. Drinking too much fluids makes you TOO YIN and also causes lots of digestive problems and drains the yang energy of the body causing fatigue. Next time you get a chance to look at lots of people, observe which side of the face shows more imbalances I am sure it will be of great interest to you. It may also point you in the right direction regarding foods to eat that nourish your body according to Chinese Dietary Therapy. Practising Qi Gong is also an excellent way of keeping the balance of Yin/Yang energy in the body. People that practise Qi gong look youthful for their age and have fantastic health because it is a practice that is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for health prevention. White Lotus's Chinese Herbal capsules are also an excellent way to rebalance the Yin and Yang energies of the internal organs and thus prevent future illness and keep your skin looking great.
