  grandmother and gradaughter birthday

Hi Everyone!

I really was surprised when I sat down to work on the newsletter this week to find out that this is the 100th issue! Wow, I am so amazed I have kept this going all these years...26 a year...so 4 years now (hence we have a photo of a 100 year old grandmother and her 4 year old grandaughter...perfect!)!

It began as a way to stay in touch with a meeting which I left, but has evolved into so much more. It is a "blog space" I suppose you could call this first part, as it gets me on a rant of some kind generally. By typing out the meeting topics every other week, it allows me to prepare for the meetings coming up. And including recipes it oftentimes forces me to cook them myself to see if they are worth featuring. Also, I am such a healthy product junkie that I just love perusing store aisles for some great find to tell you all about!

But it is all the things you send which are so so much fun and so interesting. In a given week I might get a recipe or two, a funny video, an informative piece on nutrition, or great quotes or pictures. Members send product suggestions, funny stories...I never know when I open my emails what I will find.

So now I will start a new feature which all of you who have a business can utilize. I will do a featured business blurb every issue. Whether you are an accountant, or a lion tamer (well, not sure too many people are looking to hire lion tamers these days...) I will do a bit of marketing for you free of charge. You can only appear in the newsletter once, but this goes out to 1200 + people every other week, who are primarily in the immediate area, but some are out of state and out of the country!

When we are all bombarded with advertisments why do this? Well, I hope to make this about supporting each other. In this economy we can all use a little extra, and many of us have cool companies just waiting to have WW members patronize them. If this bothers you there will be a heading on the top of the article which will read: BUSINESS LISTING FOR THIS ISSUE, and you can just skip over it.

So those business people out there...here is what I will need from you:

Your business name, description, logo, website/phone/email, and maybe a photo of you and a bit about you and what this business means to you. I would love to focus on businesses which are health oriented (are you a personal trainer, for example) but I will list you if you send it, no matter what the orientation (well, nothing sexual, political or religious).

And those of you seeing these listings, think about the fact that this person is a WW member (or perhaps a lapsed member, or a spouse of a member), and we are all on this journey together. Let's help keep each other's businesses afloat and make friends along the way!

A SPACE OF YOUR OWN

When we begin this journey one of the most important things we can do is create a supportive environment. This may mean dumping out all the junk foods and putting healthy foods on our kitchen, but there are so many ways in which we can support our efforts in our spaces. Let's explore the ways.

RECIPES FOR THIS ISSUE

Apples are happening big time, and since I live on a golden delicious orchard I am forever looking for new and innovative ways to use them. Here is a recipe from the Weight Watchers newsletter (if you do not get this newsletter click here to sign up...it is an excellent resource for so many things!), which I have modified a bit, as well as a recipe using applesauce instead of oil for baking. If you do not know about this handy trick for drastically reducing points on baked goods here is a recipe to try!

Click for more recipes on my website recipe page. This page will be updated by the next newsletter...so if there are recipes on here you love and return to frequently I might suggest copying them and pasting them into a word doc, as some of them might not be on the page in a week or so!

Several members have been raving about this packaged guacamole which is available in the bigger markets (Safeway and Raleys). Supposedly 3 pts plus per serving and delicious, I thought I would put it out there for all of you to find!

WHAT WILL THIS WORKSHOP GIVE YOU?

1) INDENTIFYING YOUR DREAMS
Many of us have a vague idea of what we REALLY want. I will help you truly name it.

2) LOCATING THE SABOTEURS
Oftentimes we tell ourselves we "can't do that", or "have no time" or "not enough money", etc. We have all sorts of reasons why we cannot have what we want. But if we really want something we make it happen no matter what the obstacle. Uncover the ways you keep yourself from manifesting your dreams.

3) SEEING THINGS IN A DIFFERENT WAY
I will show you the unique methods life coaches use for altering the way you perceive your world and your options.

4) A FULL UNDERSTANDING ABOUT HOW CO-ACTIVE LIFE COACHING WORKS AND CAN BENEFIT YOU.
You may come away deciding you could use a coach to help you make changes in your life, or not, but you will understand how coaching works, and will be able to use tools I give you in your life every day.

Here are some things previous attendees have said:

"Janet's workshop opened my eyes to situations in my life that I had been ignoring or denying. This led me to see Janet one on one. Having someone that didn't judge but listened and made me fess up to what I was really feeling changed my life. I got the courage to end a bad marriage and take care of me. I am now 60 pounds lighter and happy with who I am."
~S. Sonoma

"Janet's workshop was a valuable tool for me on my journey to health and weight loss. Her fun, yet serious approach provided several
"ah-ha" moments and a great deal to think about afterward. She is well prepared and generous with her knowledge. Clearly she has walked in my moccasins. I highly recommend this workshop and will likely participate in another given the chance."
~J. Santa Rosa

" I had no idea what to expect, and was more than pleased that I went. I saw how much I was compromising in my life and all the dreams I had squashed on my path to doing what I thought I should do. I didn't expect one workshop to change my life, but it did. I did work with Janet for a few months privately after, which helped me act on what I knew I really wanted to do, but that one day truly was an eye opener...thanks Janet!"

   BUSINESS LISTING FOR THIS ISSUE
UBER-BIKE

denver wine country century 2011So as I mentioned in the beginning of the newsletter, this is the new feature which is open to all business owners who are WW members, or lapsed members who get this newsletter. If you have a business which you think members would have an interest in (the more health oriented the better..) send me the logo, website link, information and photo of you...and as many businesses as I can include (one per issue) I will include. Let's support each other as business people is how I see it.

Now before you accuse me of nepotism, the business I am featuring this issue is the one belonging to my boyfriend, Denver Booker. Yes, he is my boyfriend, but I needed you to see how I was going to format this section, and his business is close at hand...and truly cool!

Uber-bike is all about gorgeous, high-end racing bike rentals. These are for bicyclers who take their riding seriously. Maybe they are out here on vacation or have signed up for one of the many rides in the area and do not want to use their bike. Or maybe they're considering buying a better bike, and want to test out some and see which feels best. Most likely many of you reading this are not at this level, but perhaps you know people who are. Let them know!

His site is uber-cool...check it out:
