Hi Everyone!
As most of you know at this point, my life is quite busy. I run the Santa Rosa Wednesday Night Market, which if you have never been, is much more a street festival for 17 weeks than a Farmer's Market, although it has plenty of that too. It opens May 11th. I also produce the Bodega Seafood Art & Wine Festival which is August 27th and 28th, run 6 Weight Watchers meetings and produce this newsletter for all of you, and coach a fair amount of clients privately. So there is never a dull moment in my life. I am not writing this to promote what I do, but to point out how life can be incredibly stressful, and how, for some of us, it can make the best laid plans for eating in a healthy way go awry.
I thrive on stress, or rather I thrive on the need to get things done: the endless list of to-dos which populate my waking (and sometimes sleeping) hours are my lifeblood. Not to say I don't need and take plenty of down time. My dancing, biking, etc have diminished a bit in the last few weeks, but I find time for them. But I do work into the night sometimes and am in endless meetings which take away my usual lunch hour, and sometimes dinner too. So how can I maintain my weight under these conditions? Isn't this the point where we drive into Burger King and get whatever?
Well, actually no, that is not what I do. First of all I long ago swore off fast foods, and decided that a salad made at Oliver's or Whole Foods was fast enough for me. So that is one resource I turn to frequently. I also make sure my house has plenty of grab and run foods: chopped up chicken or turkey, string cheese sticks, fruit, etc. I always keep plenty of gum in my car as an emergency something-in-my-mouth-right-now food, if you want to call gum "food".
That's how I do it. How about you? What will you do this week to move past the excuses and into the realm of conscious, smart eating?

RECIPES FOR THIS ISSUE
Because I am so busy I am publishing only one recipe this newsletter and no product suggestions. But this recipe is a Weight Watchers one, and since strawberries are in season it seemed a good one to print. Click below for more recipes on my website recipe page. CLICK HERE FOR WEBSITE RECIPE PAGE Click here for my Product Suggestion Page (including favorites like: Oatmeal Pancakes, Crab and Shrimp Cioppino, Italian Stuffed Zucchini, Chocolate Pudding Cake, Butternut Squash Risotto and Black Bean Brownies...) FRESH STRAWBERRY PIE INGREDIENTS 2 pounds strawberries, hulled, sliced (save 3 small berries for garnish) 3/4 cup sugar, granulated 1/2 cup cranberry juice cocktail, or cranberry-strawberry juice 1/4 cup cornstarch 6 oz Ready Crust 25% Less-Fat Graham Cracker Ready pie crust 1 cup fat-free vanilla yogurt, Greek-style 1 tsp lemon zest, finely grated DIRECTIONS - Combine 3 cups sliced strawberries, sugar and juice in a medium saucepan.
- Mash berries in pan with a potato masher; stir in cornstarch and bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring often, until very thick, about 1 minute.
- Remove from heat; let cool slightly and then stir in remaining sliced strawberries. Scrape into pie crust.
- Let cool slightly; cover loosely with plastic lid from pie crust. Refrigerate until set, at least 4 hours (you can then freeze the pie for a little while if desired, to make it easier to slice).
- To serve, in a medium bowl, stir together vanilla yogurt and lemon zest until blended. Spread on top of pie, leaving a border around edges so strawberry filling shows. Slice reserved strawberries and use them to garnish pie. Slice pie into 10 pieces and serve.
- Yields 8 servings
- 7 pts per serving

HELP!!!
As many of you know, I am the new director of the Santa Rosa Wednesday Night Market. It is an overwhelming and wonderful adventure putting this together, and we need a few more of the following before our opening on May 11th...
Performers for smaller street venues: Specifically I am looking for jugglers, magicians, etc who would like to perform one night at the market. There is no pay but huge exposure.
Farmers, food product vendors: we have a lot but are still accepting more.
Artisans and craftspeople who would like to sell at the market. If you or someone you know is a quality artisan we would love to have them apply!
Wineries for our tasting! Yes, the market will have a wine tasting weekly and are looking for up to 50 wineries to participate.
Sponsorships are still being accepted. This is a wonderful opportunity to be exposed to over 100,000 people during the market run.
Friends of the Market. The Market is a non-profit and businesses or individuals donate and are listed in our materials. Small donations or large are needed.
And last but not least, volunteers. We need people who love the market and would like to help out one or two nights during the run.
Please contact me if you have interest in any of this. The market will be wonderful this year, with lots of new and more of the same warm, fun family event it has been for years. I hope you will become a part of making it happen!
