Hi Everyone!

cornucopia

I have noticed of late the meetings have been somewhat lightly attended, which is a little worriesome coming into this season. We all know what lies ahead these next 6 weeks. Parties, rich food, family interactions...need I go on? Yes we are busy, stressed, and distracted, but think what you are missing.

Sometimes people see the meetings as a place they should go only if they are truly doing the program. Let go of that idea, and free yourself up of the guilt of not being perfect. Come for the ideas, the recipes, the strategies. Come for the friendship, and to hear the successes and frustrations of fellow members. Come for the support. Come so that you feel you did something towards your future health and well-being. We all are in the same boat. Let's give ourselves the gift of the smartest choice you can make: to take care of yourself first. See you in the meeting room!

MEETING TOPICS:
WEEKS OF
November 15 & November 22

thanksgiving dinner

I guess I can just leave the picture from the last issue right in this spot because the week of November 15th we will be visiting the Thanksgiving table and doing a dress rehearsal of the big day...gravy and all! The topic:
SERVING UP THANKSGIVING
should be useful to all of us!

And the week of the November 22 we will be discussing
FAMILY DYNAMICS CENTERED AROUND FOOD.
I know I cannot be the only one who hears things like: "Oh its a holiday, just relax and eat!" "You don't need to lose weight." "I made this just for you"... Sound familiar? Please do not miss this meeting. It could save your sanity and your relationships!
RECIPE FOR THIS ISSUE
I will be publishing one recipe per issue from now on, because I have just updated my website to include a Recipe Page! This will be added to monthly, so check it out!

pumpkin souffle

PUMPKIN SOUFFLE
Someone in the meeting this week asked for a pumpkin souffle recipe, and this one is from the current Weight Watchers magazine. It is one of many awesome recipes included in the issue, including Corn and Sausage Stuffing, Cranberry Fig Compote, a reasonable points version of Bouche de Noel, and lots more!

INGREDIENTS:
1 TBL light butter
5 TBL granulated sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 lg egg yolks
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
4 lg egg whites at room temperature
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 TBL confectioners (powdered) sugar

DIRECTIONS:
1) Preheat oven to 375. Grease 8 (6oz) souffle dishes or custard cups with the butter and dust with 2 TBL of the granulated sugar.
2) Mix the pumpkin, brown sugar, egg yolks and pumpkin pie spice together in a large bowl.
3) In another large bowl beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar forming soft peaks. Slowly add (1TBL at a time) remaining granulaed sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
4) With a rubber spatula fold one half of the beated egg whites into the pumpkin mixture and stir gently to lighten it. Add remaining whites and stir until no white streaks remains. Spoon evenly into souffle cups and smooth the tops. Bake until the edges are golden brown but the center jiggles slightly: 24-26 minutes. Dust the top with confectioners sugar.

8 servings 2 points each.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS

I also will be doing only one product suggestion per issue, as there is now a complete Food Product Recommendations Page on my newly improved website!

chocolate drops

Trader Joes Dark Chocolate Nibs

Every once in awhile, in "product land" there comes a little miracle, and this is it! Trader Joes has a brand new little tin at the front counters of tiny chocolate droplets or "nibs" as they call them. You get the feeling they are the drips from some other chocolate production, but they are a perfect 2 points for the entire, satisfying tin. Delicious and a great bang for your points, in terms of volume.

ANOTHER PRODUCT NOTE!
bbq chicken

A newly discovered favorite Trader Joes product has been discontinued and many WW members are upset about this. The shredded BBQ chicken is both low in points, easy and quick to eat, and delicious! Unfair!! So I spoke to a manager at TJs and he said if enough people write to them and complain they will bring it back!
www.traderjoes.com. Let's do it!

A NEW AND IMPROVED WEBSITE!

apple butterfly poster edges

Several of you have likely visited my coaching website at some point, and it has been pretty straightforward. I decided it needed something a little more useful in content so, as mentioned above, there is now a Product Suggestion Page, with links to the websites for the foods recommended, as well as a Recipe Page which will updated frequently. I have also created an Inspirational Quotes Page, and coming soon will be a Tips and Ideas Page for healthier eating and exercise! Please check it out and let me know what you think, and if there is anything you would find helpful to include!
