  Weight Watchers Newsletter #48

ATTENTION SONOMA WEIGHT WATCHER MEMBERS!!

Please be aware that for the next 3 weeks we will be meeting in a different location at the FAHA Center because they are refinishing the floors!

We will be in a small building adjacent to the pool, which has picnic tables outside. You will enter through the pool gate (there will be a sign right outside of the gate). Park in the dirt lot just as you pull into the main driveway, walk through the gate, and go out the gate straight ahead of you. We will attempt to make it as obvious as possible.
Join Our Mailing List
Hi Everyone!

orange men writingI want to remind any of you who have not yet replied to this request to please email me if you would like to stay on my newsletter list. My mailing list for this is quite high (almost 800 people!) but I see a little more than half of you actually read it (this program shows me how many people open the email). The program I use has a certain limit for a specific price and once you go over it the price increases, so I am attempting to bring it down a bit. If you enjoy this bi-monthly newsletter please let me know, and if I have not heard from you by the next publication I will simply take you out of the database.

Thanks!

emotional eating buscuit

And the week of the September 27 we will be talking about Feeling our Feelings instead of Eating to Cover Them Up. Wow, I'll bet that will make some pretty lively conversations in the meeting rooms. See you there!
RECIPES FOR THIS ISSUE
It is the time of year when our gardens are doing overtime on production, so I thought a couple of recipes using the things we have too much of right now might be smart!

 tomato soup

TOMATO SOUP
My friend made this for me and it was so delicious I asked him for the recipe. I am not sure exactly how many servings this makes but the only ingredient which has points is the oil, so count the servings and then divide the oil pts (1 pt a teaspoon) between them.

7 lbs tomatoes
4 Tbl olive oil
4 carrots, peeled and chopped very finely
9 cloves garlic
1 small bunch basil or marjoram, chopped finely
salt & pepper to taste

Slice tops of tomatoes and run through a food mill. Set aside.

Heat oil in large cooking pot and saute carrots and garlic until brown. Add tomatoes, and spices and cook down until it is 1/4 of the volume, stirring frequently, which can take several hours.

sundried tomatoes

SUNDRIED TOMATOES
I use sundried tomatoes for salads, Italian dishes and soups. Here is a quick, easy way to do it without the sun. Of course you can do them in the sun as well, but they take several days or weeks.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 6 hours

Ingredients:
5 pounds tomatoes
Fine sea salt

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 200 degrees F, or the lowest setting possible. Remove the oven racks.

Trim and discard the stem ends of the tomatoes. Halve each tomato lengthwise. Arrange the tomatoes, cut side up, side by side and crosswise on cake racks set on the oven racks. Do not allow the tomatoes to touch one another. Sprinkle lightly with salt.

Place in the oven and bake until the tomatoes are shriveled and feel dry, anywhere from 6 to 12 hours. Check the tomatoes from time to time: They should remain rather flexible, not at all brittle. Once dried, remove the tomatoes from the oven and allow them to thoroughly cool on cake racks. (Smaller tomatoes will dry more quickly than larger ones. Remove each tomato from the oven as it is dried.)

Transfer the tomatoes to zipper-lock bags. The tomatoes will last indefinitely.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION

Trader Joes does it again! This was being sampled last week and they sold me!

bbq chicken

  BBQ SHREDDED CHICKEN

This is a tub of 8 servings, fully cooked, of shredded BBQ chicken. It is really delicious, perfect for the coming home after a long day and not wanting to cook, and, best of all, it is slightly over 1 point per serving!! Incredible!
