Hi Everyone!
It is official. Spring. The dictionary has the meaning "to come into action quickly", and it seems Spring does just that. One day we are shivering and looking at bare branches, and the next thing we know flowers are popping out everywhere and under our feet there is a blanket of green.
There is a wonderful side-effect of this time of year. It has the ability to raise our spirits. All the new growth and aliveness makes us more alive. Take the opportunity to act on this yummy energy and get more physical and more present to the glory around you. Absorb the loveliness like a sponge and take it to work with you. And with full awareness take a new approach to your self-care journey.

MEETING TOPICS: WEEKS OF
MARCH 22 AND MARCH 29, 2009

The week of March 22nd the topic is restaurant eating. We will explore all different types of meals, including fast food, deli and other choices.
And the week of the March 29th we will explore spring holidays and our food choices.
Both of these topics are crucial for your journey. I hope I will see you all at them! |

RECIPES FOR THIS ISSUE
Here is a recipe from the Cooking Light website which sounds very easy and delicious.
Lemon Basil Shrimp and Pasta |

Ingredients
3 quarts water
8 ounces uncooked whole wheat spaghetti
1 pound peeled and deveined large shrimp
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
3 tablespoons drained capers
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups baby spinach
Preparation Bring 3 quarts water to a boil in a Dutch oven. Add pasta; cook 8 minutes. Add shrimp to pan; cook 3 minutes or until shrimp are done and pasta is al dente. Drain. Place pasta mixture in a large bowl. Stir in basil and next 4 ingredients (through salt). Place 1/2 cup spinach on each of 4 plates; top each serving with 1 1/2 cups pasta mixture.
4 servings 6 pts per serving

ASKING FOR YOUR HELP!!
EXERCISE LOCATIONS
Some members have sat through exercise meetings and asked me afterwards if I had a list of the places people mentioned that they go for activity. I would love to compile a list of great ideas for exercise so need your help. Please email me where you go when you work out, be it a gym, a trail, a dance class, or whatever. Tell me what days/times you go and what you do.
THEN AND NOW PHOTOS 
I often ask members at the scale, when I see they are successful in their journey, if they would send me before and after pictures. They always say they will, but rarely do. I am including mine in this newsletter, as there are so many new members who have not seen them, but you DO NOT HAVE TO BE AT GOAL to send them to me. If you are proud of your progress and want to inspire others please email me your images. And if you do not have them in the computer, bring them to a meeting and I will scan them into mine, give you back the orginals, and send you the scanned versions.

WEIGHT WATCHERS' POTLUCK GATHERINGS!
Santa Rosa member Barrie Mason is organizing once-a-month potluck gatherings at different locations each time. I think this is a wonderful idea, and hope you will think so too!
Barrie has experienced a bit of confusion in regards to HER name. Yes, she is a woman, and she has gotten a few responses to her plan for the potlucks, but feels she might get more interested people if they realize she is a she...
If you would like to volunteer your home for one of the gatherings, Barrie will do the rest, or if you want to come and make a point-friendly dish please email Barrie and let's make these happen! YUM!

In our most recent meeting we talked about breaking habits. Here is a most appropriate quote...

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.
