michelangelo's davidHoly Moley it's September!!

How did the time fly so quickly? It seems like yesterday we were planning the summer vacation and now kids are back in school, and we're back to semi-normal lives.

How did the summer affect your weight loss efforts? I know many people consider summer the time for a "break" and the thing that oftentimes gets "broken" is our promise to ourselves to lose weight. Does this sound like you? Well, if so I hope you will find your way back to a meeting and make this fall productive, exciting and fulfilling, by seeing some pounds disappear. We have missed your lovely faces, joyful energy and great ideas. No time like the present, as they say...Hope to see you soon!

Meeting Topics:
Early September

So if a food is 0 points can I eat as much as I want? That is the topic for the week of Sept 8th. We will also explore other ways in which we might be sabotaging our efforts on this journey.

And the week of September 15th we will be exploring how we can make anything happen if we believe it can happen. Mind magic...a must attend meeting!!

RECIPE FOR THIS ISSUE
As we go into fall we can start thinking about the gorgeous root vegetables. This is one of my favorite recipes. It is 5 minutes in prep time and so delicious I could eat this every night.

Feel free to sub out ones you don't like (you either love or hate beets, I have found).

parsnipsRoasted Root Vegetables
Ingredients:
2 beets, peeled and chopped in chunks
2 medium parsnips, peeled and chopped in chunks
2 Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and chopped in chunks
2 sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped in chunks
1 red onion, peeled and chopped in chunks
salt and pepper to taste
3 T rosemary, fresh or dried, chopped coursely (optional)

Instructions:
1) preheat oven to 450 degrees
2)spray large baking sheet with spray oil
3) spread all vegetables on sheet in single layer.
4) spray with spray oil and sprinkle salt pepper and rosemary evenly over them.
5) bake in oven for approximately 20 minutes, turning once.

Makes 4 servings. Each serving 4 pts. This is a Core recipe.

 Weight Watcher's Wonderful
Lose For Good Campaign!!

lose for good
I don't usually write about Weight Watcher promotions here in the newsletter. I feel you are presented with them in the meetings and that is enough. But this one warrants your attention!

For the next 6 weeks, the amount of weight you lose will be translated into food to be given to the needy!! They will donate up to 1 million lbs of food!! This is an international campaign, with food going to to Share Our Strength, which is a national organization, and Action Against Hunger, an international one.

How does it work? This week at the scales we will be giving out a booklet which has a place to record your losses. You will keep track and at the end of the 6 weeks you will turn them in and we will submit them.

I am also on another, individual campaign. I would like all of you to buy the equivalent of your weight loss in food (if you lose 5 lbs during this time, go buy a big bag of potatoes or rice , for example). Bring this food into one of my meetings at the end of the campaign and I will take it to the Redwood Empire Food Bank. So this will allow you to donate twice,: once locally, and once internationally. And you will get to see, in a very clear way, what the amount of weight looks like that you have lost!!

I am so excited Weight Watchers is doing this and it makes me very proud to work for this company.

Product Recommendation
ezekial cereal
Ezekiel 4.9 Original Cereal

I found this at Whole Foods the other day, and it is the first non-sugar cold cereal I have tasted which is truly delicious.

It has some odd ingredients (soybeans and lentils!), along with more common things, like whole grain wheat, barley and millet, but I have to say, this tastes EXACTLY like Grape Nuts, but has no sugar or preservatives, etc. I am guessing this is Core, so you Core-ites out there might want to cruise down to Whole Foods and find this. It is worth the trip!

And the closing quote (thanks to Carol!)...
        present

"Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it is called the present.
No time like the present to begin fulfilling your dreams."

Lots of love and joy to all of you!
