Janet Feb 08Hi Everyone and Happy Almost Summer!

I am excited as I begin putting together this newsletter, as I am including in it, and the following 4 newsletters, a series of very powerful CDs you can download and listen to. I don't want to give away too much here, as I want you to scroll down and find out more. But this series is changing the way I look at my world, and I suspect if you listen to them you too will find yourself changing. Because I feel the information could potentially heal our planet, I feel it is in the interest of all of us to pass this along. Hope you agree.
Meeting Topics / Late June

e are doing a SPECIAL MEETING the week of the 15th: This will be a product meeting!!It is a great opportunity to share with our fellow Weight Watchers all the great food products we have found and are getting us excited. Bring samples or empty packages of foods you know we'll love!

And the week of June 22nd the topic is: "How to Trick Your Body into Eating Less"!! What a hopeful and interesting thing to explore. Don't miss it!
michelangelo's davidI thought what would be good to feature would be hors d'oeuvres we could bring to all the potlucks and parties we go to during the summer, so here are a couple of easy ideas.

Stuffed Artichoke Hearts

1 can artichoke hearts in water, drained, patted dry and halved
1 8 oz container fat free ricotta cheese
1/4 red onion, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
several leaves fresh basil, minced
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbl parmesan cheese

Turn on broiler. Spray a broiler pan with spray oil and arrange artichoke hearts on it.

Mix all other ingredients, except parmesan cheese and place dollop on each artichoke half. Sprinkle with parmesan and broil for 6-12 minutes until golden.

3 for 1 pt.

Easy Guacamole

3 avocados, mashed
1 jar Trader Joes pineapple salsa
1 lime

Combine avocados and salsa and squeeze juice of lime into it.

Avocados are 8 pts for a whole one, so use your judgement as to how much you eat to count the points.

I like to bring this with a big vege platter, including baby bell peppers, sugar snap peas, jicama, carrots, slightly steamed broccoli and cauliflower.

This is a Core recipe.

letter wiritng The Letter Department

Carol from Santa Rosa offered an interesting dilemma..

I was on vacation and forgot to bring my points finder or calculator. Is there any way of knowing what the points would be without that?

There is a way to calculate points without your tools, but it is rather inaccurate at times. 50 calories a point is the highest most things would be. So if you find something which is 200 calories per serving, it would be 4 points.

This is over-generalizing, however, because if something is very high fiber and low fat it may work out to less points. But to be on the safe side, without a calculator, I would use this method.

michelangelo's davidSince we are doing a product meeting this week I thought it might be easier to simply give you a link to my favorite foods list, which I have given out at meetings for a long time. Just click below and you will be able to download the attachment. This list includes both Flex and Core foods and are favorites of mine and members throughout the years.

A New Earth

Awakening to Your Life's Purpose
by Ekhart Tolle
So many people have been talking about this man's writing I finally had to experience it for myself (thank you Marcia!). What I have uncovered is how our thoughts create our world, and how we can change this planet by changing our thoughts. I was given the CDs of this book and decided it would be wonderful if we could all listen to them. So for the next several newsletters I will include the link to download one. I hope these will enlighten you as they are beginning to enlighten me.

Get In Shape the Fun Way!
Dance into Fitness!
apple butterflyMy dance-based fitness class at Tone Fitness in downtown Santa Rosa is going great guns. Do you like shakin' your booty to Motown, swing jazz, blues and good old rock n' roll, like the Eagles and Van Morrison? Then this class is for you! No gym memberships or long term commitments. Just show up Sunday at 10 am and plan for an hour of great fun!

Take A Hike!
wavesThere are so many different groups to hike with these days, and what I have found, from going out with them, is that most of the hikers are older and many are in modest shape. Lest you think these groups are for 20-something athletes, think again. It is great to go with them because they plan the routes, know every inch of the trails, know the flowers and natural history, and there is a hike every weekend going someplace great! There is no fee, and it is a great way to meet like-minded folks!

For Your Information..

Life Coaching

michelangelo's davidBesides being a Weight Watcher leader, I am a trained Life Coach specializing in weight managment issues. You may be coming to meetings, knowing what you should be doing, but not doing it. Coaching explores the deeper realm to uncover what is really going on that causes you to use food in an unhealthy way.

Support Group

I have formed a support group which meets in my Sebastopol home/office every Monday from 7-9 pm. There is room for 1-2 more people. This is a comfortable, inexpensive way to experience coaching.

If either of these interest you please email me.

And the closing quote...

If you want to change what you see in the mirror, you must see in the mirror what you want to change.

Lots of love and good wishes to all of you!
