Greetings!

When a friend is suddenly facing a serious challenge, and everyone wants to help, who should step up to the plate to get friends and family organized?  Consider these tidbits:

  • Organizing the meals does not mean cooking all of them!
  • Your friend may feel awkward asking others for help, but will feel comfortable letting you know what help is needed.
  • What your friend is facing is far more challenging!

Using WhatFriendsDo.com makes the task of organizing help very easy.  The blog is there for communication.  The guestbook allows well-wishers to post messages of encouragement.  The calendar is easy to use to coordinate meals, help with children, errands, house/yard maintenance, or anything else that is needed.

Assuming the role of Team Coordinator might seem intimidating, but it does not need to be. We have a coordinator's guide which steps you through the process, a report that shows who has signed up to help, and many other tools to make the task of coordinating easy.

We're here to help!  We are full of ideas for all situations and happy to help you help your friend.

Being a coordinator

I was recently in a position where I created a WhatFriendsDo.com team for a friend.  While I am not extremely close to this friend, I have known her for years and know all of her family.  As a co-founder of WhatFriendsDo.com, I am also pretty familiar with the site; I seemed like the best fit to get the team started.

I really didn't know much about the situation, details of how events unfolded, current status or prognosis.  I didn't know what kind of food they wanted, or when they wanted it delivered.  I really felt in the dark...but I also really wanted to help.  Read more here

Show the Love

Valentine's Day is in just two weeks.  Don't forget to shower your friend (and his/her family!) with love that day.

  • Ask everyone to send a Valentine card
  • Love Notes:   ask everyone to send a note to your friend, and have the notes share a common theme.
    • a story about one special thing they love about the friend
    • a funny memory
    • a memory of when they met,
    • a quality about the friend that is most admired
  • Sweetheart Time:  If your friend has a sweetheart, help them have a special date.  Provide babysitting, gift card to a fun restaurant (make a reservation, too!!).
We might not be able to change the outcome of your situation, but we hope to help change the journey!
