No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.

bag of cheer

Symbolic and touching, the bag of cheer comes with a pineapple for hospitality and friendship, a clover for luck, a heart for love, an angel to watch over you and a dove for peace and new beginnings.

Greetings!

You know, if there is anything better than a home-grown tomato, it might be a friend-or-neighbor-grown tomato.  It's got all the flavor, but none of the hard work and waiting, and your neighbor has offered to share it with you.  In its way, it is a love letter.  It's a good thing made better by being a gift; shared.

What Friends Do can be a little like that.  Most of us take meals and errands for granted to a large extent.  But when you are struggling, feeling down, those little love-letter pick-me-ups really do help brighten almost any circumstances.

Send a love letter.  It doesn't have to be in writing, with a stamp on it.  It can be just a few home-grown tomatoes, a whole dinner, a few flowers, or any other gesture that shows you care, and you are thinking of your friend.

It's what WhatFriendsDo.com is all about.  It's about changing a friend's journey, one simple act of kindness at a time.  It's about doing those little things that seem like nothing, but are really amazing.  It's about love letters.  It's about home-grown tomatoes.

Check out the cheer suggestions at WhatFriendsDo.   You'll find the love letter that suits you best.
Here's a sampling of the daily ideas available to you at WhatFriendsDo.com:

July 16 - Sweep the Sidewalks Day
- if your friend has not been able to tend to outdoor home maintenance, gather a few friends and spruce up the yard - and be sure to sweep the sidewalks!

July 18 - Creative Salad Day - WhatFriendsDo.com isn't all about sweets and treats - salads can be creative and fun, too!   Fix your favorite, or do carry-out and deliver a great salad to your friend today!   (Be sure to sign up on your friend's WhatFriendsDo.com team page so that you don't duplicate someone else's efforts!)

July 18 - Squeaky Clean Windows Day - clean windows seem like a petty thing, but they can add sparkle to a home!  Ask your friend if it's OK for a window-washing crew to show up .. then organize your WhatFriendsDo.com team to do the task!

July 20 - Ugly Truck Day - If you have a truck (regardless of how it looks!) - offer hauling services for your friend.  Maybe new furniture needs to be picked up, or old items taken away.

July 25 - Threading the Needle Day - offer to do some mending for your friend.  Putting buttons back on shirts, hemming pants, fixing zippers - who has time for these tasks when going through medical treatments, caring for a newborn or unpacking at a new house?  Your offer to thread a needle and do some sewing will be a great gift!

July 27 - Take Your Pants for a Walk Day - well .... Offer to do laundry today for a friend going through an illness, a friend with a new baby or a friend moving to a new home.

J
uly 29 - National Lasagna Day - if you signed up to take a meal to your friend today (on the WhatFriendsDo.com Team page) lasagna should be on the menu today.

July 31 - Mutt's Day - offer to take your friend's dog to the groomer (but don't take the pup to the beauty shop without asking the owners first!)
