If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

The January Blah's

Several people have mentioned lately that they have no weekend plans coming up and that it seems people just are not doing anything.  Speculation is that after the busy month of December people are ready to hibernate for a little while, or that the typical blahs seem to set in each January.

Even people who are not dealing with any challenges at all can feel a little down in January.  There are no particular 'gathering' days like there are in most months.  There are no specific events to look forward to or to work toward as there have been the past several months.

Resolutions are made and by now quite often broken.  So the guilt starts to accumulate.

BUT - none of this is necessary!   WhatFriendsDo.com has the answer to the wintertime blues and the remedy for feeling guilty!

Put your focus on family members or friends who are carrying a heavy load right now.  After reading the list below, pick three (3) days you can 'celebrate.' (Click here for a longer list)  Not only will you brighten your friend's spirits, you will also enjoy the doing and will feel so good about it!   You'll be ready to do more of the same again in February.

January 23 - National Pie Day - apple, peach, chocolate, pumpkin, lemon meringue, coconut cream, pecan - whichever flavor you choose your friend will be delighted to celebrate pie day.
January 24 - Belly Laugh Day - if laughter is the best medicine, today's the day to fill the prescription!  Post some
good jokes on your friend's WhatFriendsDo.com guestbook - that way the laughs will be there any time of the day or night that your friend needs a good laugh.
January 25 - Opposite Day - spend today with a child whose family is going through a challenging time, and celebrate opposites all day long.  Up/Down.  Hot/Cold.  Yes/No.  Happy/Sad.  Wet/Dry.  Sweet/Sour.  Give/Take.   Fast/Slow.
January 26 - Spouse's Day - use today to celebrate the spouse who is the rock!  Provide for a 'date night' by offering babysitting, gift card for dinner and a movie.
January 27 - Chocolate Cake Day - YES!
January 28 - Daisy Day - take a dozen daisies to your friend today and use them to freshen floral arrangements that were so beautiful when they arrived, but are a bit "tired" now.
January 29 - National Puzzle Day - gather all those jigsaw puzzles you put together once but probably will never do again, and donate them to a hospital's waiting room or a retirement center.

The WhatFriendsDo.com concept of "celebrating" special days all year long allows friends to stay in touch from near and far, during happy times and difficult times.

We might not be able to change the outcome of your situation, but we hope to help change the journey!
