Dear Friends of Literacy Action,

With the arrival of Spring, things are beginning to heat up at Literacy Action. So far this year there has been a great response to our tutor workshops, with more than thirty new tutors registering for training since January. The good news is that the flow of new tutors has allowed us to decrease our backlog of waiting students. Even with so many new tutors, the demand for volunteers will continue to be high because we receive calls daily from potential students who want to learn to read.

Stay tuned for news updates throughout the month. Here are some events and activities you will not want to miss.

Serve the Rock, March 31st, 2011

Literacy Action will participate in the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce second annual Serve the Rock on Thursday, March 31st, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at War Memorial Stadium. Serve the Rock showcases the Chamber's nonprofit members, giving members and guests a one-stop opportunity to choose where they may best serve their community. In essence, the event is a job fair for volunteers. Last year we connected with several individuals who became volunteer tutors. Visit the Chamber's web site for more information, Serve the Rock.
