Greetings,

Welcome to Spring.

"Heart Scholarship" applications are due at the end of each month. Applications are taken on a rolling, all year long basis.  If you have financial need for IVF, have documented medical infertility and no insurance that covers IVF, you may want to apply. We appreciate your support and donations.

We have BIG NEWS from Dr. Geoffrey Sher. Dr. Sher was instrumental in starting the IVF scholarship program with INCIID. Now SIRM Clinics are offering a fertility preservation program FREE to cancer patients. If you are a cancer patient or know someone who is please read and pass on this information about this new FREE program for egg freezing. See the details in this newsletter. In this newsletter we provide an overview about the difficulty of egg freezing and information on SIRM's Fertility Rescue Program.

Fertility Rescue for Cancer Patients

SIRM announces Fertility Rescue and Preservation for Cancer Patients
When a young woman is diagnosed with cancer, the rush to treatment is immediate.  The patient is thrust into the world of cancer and the primary hope is recovery.  Sometimes the patient is aware their fertility could be impacted, but overwhelmed and exhausted they put the "fertility issue" aside and pursue cancer treatment. .  Read More Here

Egg Freezing & Fertility Preservation

Women who want to preserve their fertility for reasons of cancer treatment, career, or other personal choice, have faced a difficult barrier due to the poor success rates for egg freezing.  Pregnancy rates for women using frozen/thawed eggs have been less than 4% for each individual egg frozen.  This is due to the fact that;  1) at least 60% of eggs frozen are chromosomally abnormal from the outset and therefore cannot produce a normal embryo and; 2) traditional (slow) egg freezing techniques commonly cause ice crystal formation within the cell structure, reducing viability or destroying the cells in the process.
