End of 2007 and beginning of a New Year.......
Recently someone sent me an article from the San Francisco Chronicle,
that told of a Humpback Whale entangled in spider web of crab net lines. She literally had hundreds of yards of rope weighing her down and would have drown if not for a rescue team from an environmental group.
When the team arrived they determined she was so entangled the only way to save her would be to dive into the water and cut the ropes off of her by hand. They worked for hours to free her. Incredibly, after she was freed she swam in joyus freedom but stopped and came back to each and every diver who had helped free her. With a gentle nudge she thanks them one at a time. The divers reported it to be an incredible experience.
The diver who cut the rope from her mouth relates that her eye was following him the whole time. There was a consensus that none helping in the rescue effort would ever be the same after such a rare and amazing experience.
Sometimes the only way to experience all of life's blessings is to jump into the icy waters and help another. May each and every one of you as well as all of those you love and who love you, be as blessed as this amazing creature; who in an hour of real need will be surrounded by the people who will help you with the entanglements of life. May we all help unbind one another and share in the joy of giving and receiving.
